Hello Jim.

I applied to become an editor on September 13, 2011. I know it has been less than two weeks since I applied but I think you might be able to assist me with this issue.

I was unaware that I needed to confirm my email address via a validation key when I submitted my application. After reading a blog on becoming an editor I quickly searched my spam folder and found the email with the validation key. When I click on the link in the email I receive a message stating "Not a valid key". Does the receipt of this message indicate that I have to submit another application?

Here is the information from my application:

Category - http://www.dmoz.org/Arts/Video/Video_Editing/

Name - Shawn Whitaker

User name - vigor2001

Application date - 9/13/2011

Any assistance you would be able to provide would be greatly appreciated. :)

When our system receives an email validation key, it makes the application visible to us humans and then destroys the key. If it receives the same key again, it then can't find it and complains.

It's likely that you tried to reply more than once.

Jim, thank you for your prompt reply.

Does this mean that the application is available for editors / administrators to review in the system and that I do not need to submit another application?

In general, that's what I said. I haven't checked your particular circumstances because two weeks haven't expired yet. In my opinion, it would not be a good idea to apply again.

I will wait two weeks and check back with you on this thread.

Thank you for your time.

Hello Jim. It has been two weeks since I applied to become an editor. Can you check to see if my information is in the system?

It's awaiting evaluation.

Hello Jim. I have not heard anything from DMOZ yet. It has been 17 days since you let me know that my editor application was awaiting evaluation. Do you have any idea how long it might take for someone to make a decision and contact me about my approval or denial?

Thank you.

It's still awaiting review - see also the notice at the top of the category

The applications are not dealt with in fifo order so the delays are variable and unpredictable. :)
