devinpr Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 Hey DMOZ-ites, I applied a few weeks (maybe months) ago to be a volunteer editor for a category. When we submit an application, is there usually a confirmation e-mail associated with it? I just wanted to make sure that there wasn't something wrong with my submission, whether it be browser error submitting the form or whatever other number of variables it could be. I applied under <email removed, never post your email online to guard your privacy> if there is some way of checking. I'm not really in a hurry like many seem to be on here..but I'm definitely excited to help make the web as credible as many academic databases are! Thanks, Devin
jimnoble Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 The sticky FAQ and General Advice thread above includes info about the email confirmation system. Until an application has been validated in this way, it's invisible to us puny humans. If you didn't get the message, first check your spam filters. (It's a good idea to whitelist mail from the dmoz.org domain name.) If that fails, try again with a different email address.
devinpr Posted October 25, 2011 Author Posted October 25, 2011 Dear DMOZ-ites! I believe I may have an existing DMOZ admin account, but can't confirm it (bizarre situation I know). When I tried to login under the same username that I use here, which is my typical username that I use for most sites, I felt that I had just forgotten my password. It didn't say that the user didn't exist, and I find it kind of peculiar to have a username so similar to my real name that it could be someone else. After using the forgotten password feature, it said an e-mail will be sent. However, I have not received one so I am beginning to wonder. I am able to provide my real name and information to link myself to the account, but I have a few e-mails from different providers, so it really could be any of them. I believe that when I registered I used my educational one, but I'm unsure. Is there any way to verify if the the account is mine? Devinpr
RZ Admin Elper Posted October 25, 2011 RZ Admin Posted October 25, 2011 Hi, I moved your post to make things less confusing... The effect you've described is normal as your editor application is still awaiting review (as in not an editor yet) 139081 elper {moz}:curlie: All opinions expressed are my own, and do not necessarily represent the official point of view of the administration of either this forum or the directory.
devinpr Posted October 26, 2011 Author Posted October 26, 2011 And suddenly it all makes perfect sense. Thank you for the reply.
