Editor Application Status

Hello,

 

I submitted an application to become a dmoz editor on 12/3/11 (per the requirements posted on this forum, I have waited more than 14 days since my initial application to post this inquiry).

 

My application information is below:

 

Display name: Kevin D.

Username: nyappraiser

 

I applied to edit the following category:

 

http://www.dmoz.org/Business/Real_Estate/Appraisal/Appraisers/Residential/United_States/New_York/

 

Could anyone here tell me the status of my application?

Okay, thanks...I just wanted to make sure the application actually went through because when I recently tried to log into dmoz through the editor login link to see if there was any update to the status, I couldn't log in and was given the error message: "User needs an email address verification before the user can login." - I received this message despite the fact that I did, in fact, already verify my email address back on the same day that I sumitted the editor application.

 

Any idea why I'm unable to log in and getting this seemingly erroneous message?

You can't log in as an editor because your application hasn't been accepted yet. The dodgy message is a bug.

Hi Kevin,

I've applied to become an editor a couple of times. The first time, it took a matter of weeks before my application was rejected, as the category I had applied to was spammy in nature and more suitable for an experienced editor. However, I applied again in December 2011 to become an editor of http://www.dmoz.org/Arts/Music/Concerts_and_Events/Guides/, and 5 months later its still awaiting evaluation (I hope). So I don't think there is any definitive rule for waiting time, it just depends how busy the editors are at that point in time - I completely sympathize with you though as I'm in exactly the same position.
