BenClucas Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 Hello, I have listed my retail furniture site and appreciate the ODP is a volunteer run organisation, so timecales are not possible to know etc. I've also read Jim's comments below "You might have misunderstood our objectives and how we operate here. ODP is a volunteer organisation building a directory as a hobby. Editors edit where they wish, when they wish and as much as they wish within the constraints of their permissions. We have no schedules or systems to force people to do work that they don't volunteer to do. ODP is not primarily a free listing service for website owners and it does not attempt to process their listing suggestions within the time scales desired by them. Some volunteer will process your listing suggestion in time but we can't predict who or when that might be. Elapsed times can range from a few days to a few years. There is no need to re-suggest your website and doing so could be counter-productive because a later suggestion overwrites any earlier one." I was just wondering if there was anyway of knowing if your site had been rejected, or if it had just not yet been looked at? I believe contact between the editors and people doing the submitting is not recommended. If your site has been rejected for whatever reason is that it, or is there anthing you can do after that? In my case it has only been a few weeks, so I'm not overly worried, I was just wanting to know for furture reference, thats all. Ben Clucas
jimnoble Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 I was just wondering if there was anyway of knowing if your site had been rejected Not really, but you can tell whether or not your site is listable. Dispassionately evaluate your website for yourself against our editor guidelines. If it's listable, it'll be listed in time. If not, not .
Meta windharp Posted February 22, 2012 Meta Posted February 22, 2012 was just wondering if there was anyway of knowing if your site had been rejected No, there is no way to track a URL suggestion. You can have a look at our site selection criteria and check if they apply to the site in question. That's basically what the editor does as well to decide if a site is listable. [Ah well, to slow, so Jim beat me. ^^] Curlie Meta/kMeta Editor windharp

RZ Admin Elper Posted March 7, 2012 RZ Admin Posted March 7, 2012 Then same remarks made by jimnoble and windharp above will apply elper {moz}:curlie: All opinions expressed are my own, and do not necessarily represent the official point of view of the administration of either this forum or the directory.
sandiegohaunted Posted June 9, 2012 Posted June 9, 2012 I have a site submitted 4 years ago that never made it into Dmoz, My only suggestion is to "submit and forget." Dmoz's importance in search engine rankings has diminished greatly, and will eventually be completely null.
