Many sites claim that they can verify my DMOZ web site submission that we had made over 9 months ago. I've search threw the DMOZ directory for extended periods of time. I still do not find our site listing yet I'm being "listed in DMOZ" by "site that verify our listing" in DMOZ.

I tried to edit my post however it said I did not have permission. I wanted to take out the url and be more specific in my post.

So I reposted through this reply the changes I wanted to express:

I still do not find our site listing. Yet we see that through sites that verify DMOZ listings that we are in the DMOZ directory.

The whole process is very confusing. We have other sites to suggest however there is no use in going forward with those since I have no clear understanding of the submission process. Yes I've read the rules and followed them to the letter however we can not verify that our submitted site is listed.

The category itself is authoritative. If you see your website there, it's listed there. Trusting non-authoritative third parties seems pointless to me.

There's a bug in our rudimentary search BTW. Sites that were listed but have subsequently been removed can still show up in the SERPS.

I agree on the non-authorized third party sites. We just can't verify that we are in the DMOZ directory. Our resources are also limited in researching this matter and understand the situation that editors and volunteers have at DMOZ. Thank you for your fast response.

Try to search for yourdomainname.com at http://www.dmoz.org

See above where I said

Our search is thus not authoritative.

Hello, I submitted my site about 2 months ago but it is not appearing when I do a search on dmoz.org. I know there is no guarantee that it will ever be listed, the issue is that I have since bought a new domain name for the website which is to be the primary one. Can I make a new submission? Can I alter my previous submission to reflect the new domain name?

Many thanks

Hi, if the site is listed, there is an update facility, if not just suggest the new url to the approriate category - you can always tack on [replaces example.com] to the end of the description. :)
