Johnkobeck Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 I have also been turned down again, for the sixth time But I'm not giving up. I truly want to contribute. I hope I make it this time
Meta pvgool Posted August 1, 2012 Meta Posted August 1, 2012 Becoming an editor is not difficult. Write a complete and honest application and show us that you understand the guidelines by writing decent tiltles and descriptions for 3 websites that fit in the category you are applying for (those websites should ofcourse not be listed yet). Being rejected is no shame, many of our current editors had to try more than once. Each rejection email will have tips about how to improve. Those tips might be in the form of a standard mail or in the form of personal comment (or a combination). Read them, read the guidelines and try again. I will not answer PM or emails send to me. If you have anything to ask please use the forum.

I recently did re-apply and I am hoping for good news this time around. The editors comments at the bottom of the rejection letters have been most helpful. It has been a learning experience.
mellymel Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 Good luck John! I'm also trying hard to join the club - although having been rejected in December 2011 (due to picking a category that is prone to a lot of spam). I reapplied and still haven't heard back as to whether I've been accepted or not. Just need to be patient I guess, but it is frustrating. Good luck!
Johnkobeck Posted August 8, 2012 Author Posted August 8, 2012 Mellymel I notice it takes about a week to hear back on the status of an application. When did you apply?
RZ Admin Elper Posted August 8, 2012 RZ Admin Posted August 8, 2012 We ask you wait at least 14 days after you submit the application before requesting it's status (assuming you've heard nothing since) elper {moz}:curlie: All opinions expressed are my own, and do not necessarily represent the official point of view of the administration of either this forum or the directory.
Johnkobeck Posted August 9, 2012 Author Posted August 9, 2012 The first few times I applied I heard back rather quickly, usually within 48 hours. This last time its been almost 2 weeks (but not quite yet). I was just curious if that may mean I have passed the initial review. That raises the question; is there a second person who must finalize the application or is it one individual who revies and makes the decision. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Normaly there is only one editor. But each application you make it may be another editor or the same who is doing the review. BTW It would be appriciated if you kept all your questions about your application in the same thread. I will not answer PM or emails send to me. If you have anything to ask please use the forum.
Johnkobeck Posted August 10, 2012 Author Posted August 10, 2012 Thank you for the reply and clearing that up! Will do on future questions.
