Because I found a site listed on DMOZ that no longer exists, I wanted to know if it is possible to suggest sites archived by the Wayback Machine on the Internet Archive. I think it would be a terrific way to keep old sites going.

What if an old site contained interesting information, would it not be a good idea to list them on DMOZ?

I know a good historysite with a lot of interesting articles that went blank because the owner of that site died, it would be an ideal idea to list an old version of that site on DMOZ so that other people can visit that site if they want too.

We've discussed this at length internally and our policy is not to list archive.org content.

If the content is worthwhile, somebody will republish it.

At DMOZ we do not list archived websites.

If you think such old information is usefull you could publish it on a site of your own.

I guess you are right, if someone is really interested in seeing (part) of an old site being continued they would make there own mirror of the content.
