To whom at DMOZ/ODP should I forward the non-redacted version of this email? (Assuming that anyone is concerned about it.)

>> I'm [name] from [firm-name] Law Group. We have just found out and want to report that [web sites] are using dmoz.org content on their website thus violating the term &

condition of dmoz.org. It's an act of content infringement and need to be taken care of asap. * * * << [sic]

Using content of DMOZ is allowed.

But you must comply to the rules and have the proper attribution on all pages of your website that contain DMOZ content.

see http://www.dmoz.org/docs/en/license.html

AOL has his own legal department and I doubt they will use an outside company for such contacts.

I will not answer PM or emails send to me. If you have anything to ask please use the forum.

Thank you, but I already realized it was not legitimate (if the grammar weren't enough of a clue, there were several other obvious signs). From a quick inspection, it appears that the sites referenced in the email appear to be in full compliance with DMOZ rules.

I just thought that the administrators or legal team might want to receive a copy of the actual email to evaluate whether they should take some action. Some ISPs might respond differently, believing that this is a communication from an attorney representing DMOZ/ODP.

You could raise an abuse report for it - include the full mail with headers and anything else you think is useful.
