I am very keen and interested in knowing that How many of editors have their website listed in Dmoz ?

do guys working here get paid ? what is the source of income for Dmoz, I mean where does revenue come from ?

Editors are able to list their own sites as long as they don't use their position to give them any advantage over other sites. Many editors have site(s) listed, but some either don't have websites or haven't made listing their site(s) a priority.

Editing is a hobby, and is not remunerated - listings in the directory are free; there is no paid service, and demanding payment for a DMOZ listing is viewed as abuse.

Personally, I'm not aware of Dmoz having any revenue - it's supported by AOL, so you'd have to ask them (that is beyond the scope of this forum)

 

To get a better idea of how the directory works, you might want to look through some relevant documentation:

thanks mate..but for me editing is not hobby but its just that Hinduism is my love .

I was asking since i was thinking of making directory only for Hinduism of dmoz level, but money is where i slip down

I think there are several software packages available to create your own directory, or to import Dmoz categories...

i think editors should be cautious when listing website..here is one which i found offle pack of advertisement and there are many more like it <url removed> . will talk to you guys in some time..

I removed the URL from your post (and the Directory - thanks) as we have a specific thread for those...

Also there is a Flag system to report issues with listings directly, look for the links to the right of each listing and the other right in Arabic

don't editors look after it on monthly of quarterly basis ? there are loads to do..i will do only of hindu section on some holiday..

There many more listings than we can hope to keep up with; Dmoz does have automated link checkers, but some sites still go bad without us noticing, so all help is welcome

Lets see , I will be still be confined to my stream i.e. "Hinduism"
