Hi,

We suggested a site 5 weeks ago for our local non-profit red cross organization in Karlsruhe, Germany. It was our first and only suggestion to DMOZ.

Since then, we decided to switch the main hostname and the default protocoll from HTTP to HTTPS, so that the URL we suggested to DMOZ is now a HTTP 301 Redirect.

What should we do now?

1. Should we simply wait for the suggestion to be reviewed and change the URL after it might be accepted, risking that it is considered a breach to the the guideline "Redirects and 'Cloaked' URLs" and not accepted at all?

2. Should we suggest the site again with the correct hostname and protocoll, risking that it is considered a breach to the guideline "Identical Mirrors"?

3. Will we get a notification in case of a denial from DMOZ, so that we can try again with the correct URL after that? (If not, we would like to suggest this "notification-on-denial" mechanism to be implemented in the future.)

Tanks for your help and sorry for the unconveniance.

Greetings from Germany

Olivier

There is no harm in re-suggesting the site. You can add a note regarding the URL change at that time.
I will not answer PM or emails sent to me. If you have anything to ask please use the forum.

Just to add that for redirects (to the same content) we will normally follow them and update the listing's URL accordingly...

By policy as much as the difficulty of implementation, we don't notify people if suggested sites are accepted, still waiting or rejected (though the accepted ones are simple to identify).

Most suggestions which aren't listed are simply waiting for review - many then get moved to other, more accurate, categories before being listed - why the choice of the correct category can reduce the time taken. :)
