Iris Martanovic Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 Hopefully someone can help me. Pretty please. Question 1: I have looked into adding the company I work for under the Furniture category. However, under this category the sub-categories do not include one that is the "best" fit. We sell Living Room Furniture, Dining Furniture, Bedroom Furniture, Home Office Furniture, and Patio Furniture. The "best" sub-category that I can determine which would be the "best" fit is "Home Furniture". However, this is not listed and the options of Bedroom, Office, Seating, Tables, or Patio are not really encompassing of what we actually carry. By selecting any one of these it would be extremely limiting the other lines that we offer. My Question: What would be the best sub-category to pick for our company which offers a full suite of home furniture for every room? Question 2: We also have a Mattress site as a sub-domain. My Question: Would submitting this site, which is a sub-domain from our main site, be considered a duplicate submission? Thank you for anyone that offers recommendations on how to proceed while still following DMOZ's rules. It is very clear that you don't want to mess up the first time as its the only chance you get to submit.
Meta mollybdenum Posted August 25, 2015 Meta Posted August 25, 2015 If you have a brick and mortar store, you may suggest the site to the locality in Regional. Choose the best category. An editor will move the listing if it is not in the most appropriate category. If you sell online, then choose the best Shopping category, and again, if misplaced, an editor will move the listing. Please do not suggest the subdomain as it will be considered a fraternal mirror and not listed. I will not answer PM or emails sent to me. If you have anything to ask please use the forum.
RZ Admin Elper Posted August 26, 2015 RZ Admin Posted August 26, 2015 To expand a bit for Question 1 - If the site carries things which overlap two (or more) subcategories, we'll usually list it in the category above the subcategories concerned. If it's for totally disparate things like Mattresses and Car Tires, editors can decide at their discretion to list a site in two categories. elper {moz}:curlie: All opinions expressed are my own, and do not necessarily represent the official point of view of the administration of either this forum or the directory.
Iris Martanovic Posted September 10, 2015 Author Posted September 10, 2015 Thank you both! I will submit today under one of the subcats and hopefully it will get moved to the category level. Thank you again!
