I have submitted my website about once every 4-6 months to allow editors to have the chance to review my website but nothing is going on.

I have waited for a notification to approve or even decline my website: but i got nothing. Finally and after many tries i decided to Buy a listing in DMOZ but i thought this message might help others to say their thoughts and share their experience with DMOZ approval.

Anyone help me approve my website for free?

Some volunteer will process your listing suggestion in time but we can't predict who or when that might be. Elapsed times can range from a few days to a few years. There is no need to re-suggest your website and doing so could be counter-productive because a later suggestion overwrites any earlier one.

If you can spare a little time and would like a new hobby, by all means apply to be editor of a category.

Editors can list their site(s) as long as there is no favouritism per our guidelines.

As for paying to be listed, we do not do that. If some editor has tried to entice you to pay for a listing please report with as many details as possible and file an abuse report at http://www.dmoz.org/editors/abuse/report

This is a serious infraction of the rules. There is never a fee to be listed.

I will not answer PM or emails sent to me. If you have anything to ask please use the forum.

Hi Molly

Thanks for the reply, but really i am frustrated about listing a website in DMOZ so that's why i searched for paid inclusion to free out my mind and get listed fast, of course the editor that i will pay for him to list my website(s) said: Never mentions my details to get a huge discount!

Paid listings will be deleted and the site owner banned for life. This is not the way to go.

Hi Molly,

Thanks for the reply and follow up my situation :) Of course after reading your comments i "will not" buy a listing even if it's a real offers :) Anyway i hope to see my website listed for free in the directory. It's about Gaming with about 3 years old and organized well and have a good search presence. If you can recommend it for fast inclusion "free" inclusion i will be appreciated.

There is no option for "fast inclusion"

as has been mentioned time between suggestion and review can vary between a few days and several years

by suggesting a website more than once you might probably have incresed this timeframe each time you made a suggestion

the worst thing that can happen (if you suggested a website realy often and to many different categories) is that the website will be banned for ever

so stop suggesting the website, and don't bother about being listed in DMOZ, nothing magical will happen when it occurs

Well I also had offer for fast listing (few times from editors or someone close to editor)but I reject it 'cause it is not right path to go,also I sow many users think that whole this waiting for listing without rejection is ment to force user to go with this fast path but I don't bealive that and I'm convinced that main reason for this is lack of active editors.

As I say , can understand that waiting list is long and lack of editors offcourse is main reason but why update category and add just 2 sites if there is so much application(I explored category I was interested in before site is added and I sow two times that editor update category with only 2 websites)

Now I apply to be editor in small category in my native language, this category is same niche I worked for long time and now I have free time so I decide to apply.

Just to add that many of the freelance "listing services" available are more or less legit in the sense that they only promise that the site will be submitted to the correct category with a suitable title and description, something that anyone can do themselves.

The people operating these schemes can be either non or former editors, but the editing community regards active editors doing this as an abuse of their editing privileges.

This thread has imo strayed to the edge of the forum tos; closing.
