sinangenc Posted April 4, 2017 Posted April 4, 2017 I have added the full web site (Gebze evden eve nakliyat) and waited for the approval to come, did anybody know why bi and dmoz were closed. 1
RZ Admin Elper Posted April 4, 2017 RZ Admin Posted April 4, 2017 The directory closed as AOL no longer wished to support the project. The editing community are working on a replacement directory; meanwhile the last dataset (RDF) is published here, but is not editable. Normally, any site suggestions made to DMOZ will be carried over to the new directory. 1 elper {moz}:curlie: All opinions expressed are my own, and do not necessarily represent the official point of view of the administration of either this forum or the directory.
edwardeldridge Posted April 7, 2017 Posted April 7, 2017 As an ex Editor I was very sorry to hear that Dmoz was closed. Wishing you all the very best in your efforts to replace it 1
RZ Admin Elper Posted April 8, 2017 RZ Admin Posted April 8, 2017 @ForesttEd Thanks - If you want to be reinstated as editor, send me a PM. 1 elper {moz}:curlie: All opinions expressed are my own, and do not necessarily represent the official point of view of the administration of either this forum or the directory.
suerockoriginals Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 OMG! DMOZ was my go to for YEARS! All of the links were excellent and not filled with advertising. This directory was invaluable in providing supportive services for myself and my children all throughout school.....wow 1
Meta Jezebel Posted April 14, 2017 Meta Posted April 14, 2017 Thank you. We will be back though. We have to rebrand and it's taking a while to organise the data but as soon as we are back (under a different name) we will let everyone know here. 1
Charles Kiyimba Posted April 15, 2017 Posted April 15, 2017 I have been surprised that DMOZ was closed. But it's good to hear that something is being done to bring back the service. Wish you success the organizers. 2

yunqing Posted April 16, 2017 Posted April 16, 2017 I wrote DMOZ into my final year project report and I created a simple web directory prototype called link2there take my hat off to DMOZ. I was soo sad that DMOZ closed. too bad.
Meta Jezebel Posted April 16, 2017 Meta Posted April 16, 2017 The project lives. We just need to get the directory editable elsewhere. Don't give up on us yet. 1
gravi8729 Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 We have to run with the time. Time is passing fastly. Good to hear about rebrand of DMOZ.
amzoun95 Posted February 10, 2019 Posted February 10, 2019 Surprised they didn't put it up for sale, bet your bottom dollar that someone would have bought it..
Meta informator Posted February 12, 2019 Meta Posted February 12, 2019 Maybe, but that was AOLs decision. Curlie has now opened. 1 Curlie (Dmoz) Meta editor informator
