Jeyendran Balakrishnan Posted February 20, 2018 Posted February 20, 2018 I am grateful to all of you at Curlie for taking on the torch from DMOZ and continuing in the quest to organize the evolving web. When DMOZ was operating, their RDF data dumps were an invaluable resource. I was wondering if there are any plans to resume data dumps for Curlie too (RDF, XML, JSON, CSV files, ...)? Best regards, Jeyendran Quote
Meta informator Posted February 20, 2018 Meta Posted February 20, 2018 Yes, there are plans to resume data dumps in some form, it may take some time to do that though. Quote Curlie (Dmoz) Meta editor informator
Jeyendran Balakrishnan Posted February 20, 2018 Author Posted February 20, 2018 Excellent! Thank you so much. Quote
Jeyendran Balakrishnan Posted July 6, 2018 Author Posted July 6, 2018 Hello, Is there any update available on initiation of data dumps of Curlie data? Thanks a lot! Quote
Meta informator Posted July 7, 2018 Meta Posted July 7, 2018 Unfortunately not yet, it's on the to-do list. Quote Curlie (Dmoz) Meta editor informator
Jeyendran Balakrishnan Posted July 7, 2018 Author Posted July 7, 2018 Thanks, @informator. Looking forward to it! In the meantime, if there is anything I can do to help make it happen, please let me know. -Jeyendran Quote

Jeyendran Balakrishnan Posted November 3, 2018 Author Posted November 3, 2018 Hi, taking you up on your suggestion to post reminders once in while ;-) Getting downloadable access to the Curlie data is eagerly awaited! Quote
RZ Admin Elper Posted November 4, 2018 RZ Admin Posted November 4, 2018 Yes, you are not forgotten! Imo it's the next thing in the pipeline. Meta informator Posted April 23, 2019 Meta Posted April 23, 2019 Editors can offer their help in the Editor Forum at Curlie. That said this is also an issue about the value of producing data dumps. Quote Curlie (Dmoz) Meta editor informator
wis Posted May 3, 2019 Posted May 3, 2019 (edited) what do you mean by "value of producing data dumps"? the cost of hosting vs the demand and the value provided? Edited May 4, 2019 by wis 1 Quote
Meta informator Posted May 4, 2019 Meta Posted May 4, 2019 I can't be specific, but we have not unlimited resources and producing downloadable data has not yet been a top priority. 1 Quote Curlie (Dmoz) Meta editor informator
Jeyendran Balakrishnan Posted December 25, 2019 Author Posted December 25, 2019 Hello, Merry Christmas to all at Curlie! Here's hoping the New Year will bring joy to all of us who have been hoping to get RDF data dumps from Curlie! Peace and Love. Quote
Editall/Catmv arubin Posted January 5, 2020 Editall/Catmv Posted January 5, 2020 Some editors are looking forward to the return of tools which use the RDF. Although I have never used the RDF directly, there were editor-only tools which used the RDF which I miss. 2 Quote
Jeyendran Balakrishnan Posted January 5, 2020 Author Posted January 5, 2020 Please let any of us know if we can help with the development/return of these software tools. Quote
stvn Posted July 29, 2020 Posted July 29, 2020 Hello, any news on this ? I am python developer and system administrator and offering my help in making this come to reality. Quote
Meta informator Posted July 29, 2020 Meta Posted July 29, 2020 No news, unfortunately. I guess it could be a good time to re-evaluate this, so raising the question internally. I don't think there is a possibility for outside participitation in development efforts. 2 Quote Curlie (Dmoz) Meta editor informator
RZ Admin Elper Posted July 29, 2020 RZ Admin Posted July 29, 2020 All offers of help are welcome, but are easier to manage when from those who are already editors. As informator said, at the moment we aren't Open Source, so rather limited. By all means post in the new Public user discussion forum (it'll get more attention from active and technical editors than here) 1 Quote elper {moz}:curlie: All opinions expressed are my own, and do not necessarily represent the official point of view of the administration of either this forum or the directory.
Jeyendran Balakrishnan Posted August 1, 2020 Author Posted August 1, 2020 Thank you for raising this topic internally at Curlie! We are all looking forward eagerly to a positive decision. As always, we all want to offer all our help to make this happen. Quote
RZ Admin Elper Posted August 4, 2020 RZ Admin Posted August 4, 2020 Following up on this, are we right in assuming that the previous version of RDF is what is wanted, or are any other formats of interest? Quote elper {moz}:curlie: All opinions expressed are my own, and do not necessarily represent the official point of view of the administration of either this forum or the directory.
Jeyendran Balakrishnan Posted August 8, 2020 Author Posted August 8, 2020 Very sorry for the delay in responding. I'm delighted that this topic is getting attention. Thank you! I'd be perfectly happy with the current RDF format, as I have a parser already developed for parsing all the Curly (ODP) RDF files. +1 Quote
