Guest scentseduction Posted July 31, 2003 Posted July 31, 2003 Hi! I submitted www.scentseduction.com in march and was wondering what its status is. I'm afraid that a site submission service has been resubmitting it monthly and I was wondering if this would hurt my being added to the index
Meta hutcheson Posted July 31, 2003 Meta Posted July 31, 2003 Yes, monthly resubmittals can hurt you, but they don't seem to have -- yet. No, your site hasn't been reviewed. Normally, we'd ask you to give a clickable link to the category you'd submitted to. In this case, there's not much more pertinent than we could say anyway. Whatever category you submitted a site like that to, I could pretty well guarantee that (1) it's got hundreds of submittals, 80% or more of them affiliate spam, or (2) before it gets reviewed, it will get moved to a category like [see #1].
Guest scentseduction Posted July 31, 2003 Posted July 31, 2003 Hi! Thank you very much for your reply! I submitted to the category http://dmoz.org/Adult/Shopping/Pheromones/ it is also appropriate to the category http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Health/Reproduction_and_Sexuality/Aphrodisiacs/ I'm sorry to hear that I haven't been reviewed because the category is clogged with spammers. In fact, my site is definitely not an affiliate spam site and I rank very high on the major search engines for my product (#2 on Google for instance). It is also in every major Human Edited Index except for the DMOZ. I have the lowest prices by far, as attested by Froogle, Yahoo Shopping, and AskSimon, and I also have a lot of scientific and journalistic information on my site regarding the products, their effectivenessm, and their usage. I think my site would be a good addition to the DMOZ. Well thank you for your time! George
Meta hutcheson Posted July 31, 2003 Meta Posted July 31, 2003 >...I rank very high on the major search engines for my product This matters not the least bit to us. We'll happily list a site without another link to its name. >It is also in every major Human Edited Index except for the DMOZ. This also doesn't affect our deliberations. >I have the lowest prices ... This typically doesn't come into consideration either. >I also have a lot of scientific and journalistic information on my site regarding the products, their effectivenessm, and their usage. This is good search engine bait, and perhaps good for attracting customers, but for a SHOPPING category, what counts is information for the customer, relevant to the transaction: Exactly who is selling exactly what, when, from where, how, and for how much. Why, or to whom, are questions of deep concern to retailers and marketers, but of no interest at all to us.
