Guest uscountytrader Posted August 3, 2003 Posted August 3, 2003 please provide a status on Site http://www.uscountytrader.com in directory http://www.dmoz.com/Shopping/Classifieds/Free_Classifieds/ any info would be great. I believe its been over a month.
uzs980 Posted August 3, 2003 Posted August 3, 2003 Your submission of July 1st is still waiting for review along with more than 200 other sites. It may take some time to review them. You may come back to this thread after one month (or two or three) to ask for a status update, if your site hasn't been listed by then. Yours, Robert
Guest uscountytrader Posted August 3, 2003 Posted August 3, 2003 Are there any other Directories with less sites waiting that my site could belong too. If so, do i just resubmit? thats unreal
oneeye Posted August 3, 2003 Posted August 3, 2003 I'm sorry but we only have knowledge of the DMOZ directory here. If you are asking whether there are alternative categories within DMOZ you could submit to the answer is I don't think so but if the editor who eventually reviews your site thinks it has been submitted in the wrong place they will move it - please do not resubmit.
uzs980 Posted August 3, 2003 Posted August 3, 2003 It seems it's already the most appropriate category. Evidently you are not the only one who had the idea to start a free classified system ... By the way, just about 300 classifieds ads in a nationwide system is not that much. Your local newspaper probably has more ... Yours, Robert
Guest uscountytrader Posted August 3, 2003 Posted August 3, 2003 Thats because it used to be a local Florida classified. It just went National 2 months ago. If classifieds sites could come online with 10,000 or so ads, that would be great, but they don't because users post them! And yes I'm aware there is tons of sites that offer free classifieds. My plan is to be the best! I've been working this project for over 2 years now, it will grow in due time!
brmehlman Posted August 4, 2003 Posted August 4, 2003 You may want to consider delaying your submission then. Our editorial decisions take no account of future content, they're based on what we see at the time we review a site. To amplify what's been said about submitting only to the most appropriate category, finding a category that's being edited faster won't help you a bit. The editor there will just move the submission to the most appropriate category, where it will wait again.
