donaldb Posted September 9, 2003 Posted September 9, 2003 There seems to be 3 different bugs happening at the moment with editor applications and new editors. After applying to become an editor you are getting the confirmation e-mail that asks you to reply to confirm your e-mail address. The subject of the e-mail is something like "opendir - \¤Úeúy#TR´" with strange characters. This is a bug. There is a problem with the subject line if it does not contain only alphanumeric characters. If you reply to this e-mail, you will most likely get a reply that says "Bad Authentication Ticket". Normally the subject line would be something like "opendir - 999b070145c151395ed6363e27615b19" Normally when you reply to this, your application would move into the pile to be reviewed. Some people did receive e-mails with these correct ticket numbers, but when you replied you were also getting the "Bad Authentication Ticket" message. This may be part of the same bug above. And finally, new editors who were accepted in the last 4 or 5 days are also having problems logging into the editor's dashboard. You are probably getting the message that says "Authorization Required This server could not verify that you are authorized to access the document requested. Either you supplied the wrong credentials (e.g., bad password), or your browser doesn't understand how to supply the credentials required." Hopefully these problems will be corrected soon. They have been reported, and we're waiting to get a fix. Thanks for being patient. We will post updates here when we know more.
donaldb Posted September 10, 2003 Author Posted September 10, 2003 It looks like these bugs have been cleared up. For the third one where new editors were having username/password problems, you should be able to log in no problem now. For the issues with weird ticket numbers and bad authentication messages I'm still waiting to see how to resolve these. I would imagine that if you had a normal alphanumeric ticket number you can just reply again and it will probably go through.
Guest addvisors Posted September 10, 2003 Posted September 10, 2003 I have been reinstated as an editor, my login is kimfrede, but even if I confirm my password and check that I'm actually active, I still can't login to dmoz. Is this bug known? Thanks
Guest ofdesigns Posted September 11, 2003 Posted September 11, 2003 Hi!, sorry my bad english, i complete the forms to edit http://dmoz.org/World/Español/Países/Uruguay/Economía_y_negocios/Informática/ Apparently i received the ticket with errors, the subject was "to opendir - %®3'"}¹8æ¸Y, þ@" and the error that gives back are "Bad authentication ticket" Some way to solve it? or I must write everything again? please no! Thank you very much!
Guest ofdesigns Posted September 11, 2003 Posted September 11, 2003 Sorry, the nick with i make the order is caraie. Thanks.
donaldb Posted September 11, 2003 Author Posted September 11, 2003 addvisors, I have passed this question on to our tech person.
donaldb Posted September 11, 2003 Author Posted September 11, 2003 ofdesigns, As I mentioned above, I'm still waiting to find out the answer to this problem.
donaldb Posted September 11, 2003 Author Posted September 11, 2003 ofdesigns, you must reply again but change the subject line to opendir - 4a745f30c7c721a55c15cb85043b244d
donaldb Posted September 11, 2003 Author Posted September 11, 2003 This thread has gotten a bit confused from my original intent. I was originally just going to post the status of those 3 bugs here so I should have closed the thread to new posts. My fault So just to recap and update here. There were 3 different problems happening over the last couple of days. 1. New editors were unable to log in. This was solved. New editors should now be able to log in.. 2. New editor applicants were receiving the confirmation e-mail with a normal alphanumeric ticket number, but when replying to that e-mail they were receiving the message that said "Bad Authentication Ticket" Resolved. You should be able to reply to that e-mail now and your application will be put into the queue. 3. New editor applicants were receiving the confirmation e-mail but the ticket number contained strange characters. When you replied to this e-mail you would also get the "Bad Authentication Ticket" message. This is somewhat resolved. Your applications are still waiting to be confirmed, but we need to give you the correct ticket number to submit. If this is you, please post here the editorname you selected and the category that you wanted to edit so that someone can look up the application's ticket number and we can post it here. I know that you may have given us this info already, but it's getting a little confusing hunting through all of the threads here again
Guest kag10 Posted September 11, 2003 Posted September 11, 2003 Hi there, Thanks for all the help so far, donaldb. Ok, I had one of the weird number tickets. To help find my application, here is some info: editor name: kag10 email: kafoster10@charter.net category: shopping->toys and games->educational As soon as I get a legit ticket number, I'll reply back on my confirmation email & hopefully it'll work out.
Guest ofdesigns Posted September 11, 2003 Posted September 11, 2003 Thanks for the response donaldb !!
old_crone Posted September 11, 2003 Posted September 11, 2003 Name: oldcrone Category: http://dmoz.org/Computers/Data_Formats/Style_Sheets/CSS/Examples/ Thanks
donaldb Posted September 12, 2003 Author Posted September 12, 2003 Our tech person has 10 of those weird character ones left to be nudged along, but I've forwarded your info to make sure these get done as well. All she is doing here is making sure that another e-mail gets sent out with a proper ticket number for you to reply to.
donaldb Posted September 12, 2003 Author Posted September 12, 2003 kag10 and oldcrone, I'm told that new confirmation e-mails were sent out. Did you receive a new confirmation e-mail to reply to?
Guest kag10 Posted September 12, 2003 Posted September 12, 2003 Hi donaldb, Yes, I got it, and replied...and got a bad authentication ticket again. Darn! Here is my new ticket no.: Subject: opendir - 27c736d332842d383b7453e920012f85 What should I do? Thank you!
donaldb Posted September 13, 2003 Author Posted September 13, 2003 Arrrgh! That is frustrating All I can do is report it again.
donaldb Posted September 13, 2003 Author Posted September 13, 2003 One more thing. Make sure that the number doesn't get truncated in the subject line. Send an e-mail to apply@dmoz.org with just 27c736d332842d383b7453e920012f85 in the subject field. See if that works.
old_crone Posted September 13, 2003 Posted September 13, 2003 I got mine, replied and it was confirmed.
Guest kag10 Posted September 13, 2003 Posted September 13, 2003 Ok, I had to manually enter the number in the subject line and it went through...finally. Thanks again for your help! kag10
