I respectfully request a reply on the status of this site which was submitted to following ODP category over a month ago:

http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Visual_Arts/Genres/Nature_and_Wildlife/Artists/

I strongly believe this is the proper category, as Larry is indeed a wildlife artist (and a very talented one I might add). I'm confident this site contains no html coding errors.

This category shows no editor at this time, which obviously can cause delay.

His address, while not shown prominently on the home page, is on every page in the meta-tags. There is a also a thank you letter from President Bill Clinton with his address shown publicly, thanking Larry for his portrait of him with his dog Buddy the State of Arkansas commissioned him to do. /images/icons/smile.gif

Thank you VERY much in advance if it can be approved now!

While we never promised to review sites on demand, once the ODP is back up and running (there are some access problems at the moment), we'll be able to tell you the status of your submission.

Thanks for letting me know about the temporary access problem! You didn't have to do that...

If that category has a big backlog, I might be willing to help out with it as an editor too.

From http://validator.w3.org/ for http://www.larrychandlerart.com/ :

> Below are the results of attempting to parse this document with an SGML parser.

> No errors found!

You are one of the very few submitters that has committed to web standards and interoperability. Thank You!

It isn't a requirement to do so to be listed in ODP, but by having a 'compliant' web site, with well-formed and valid HTML, you give your site the widest possible audience... your site should work on just about any make and version of web browser by doing this.

<soapbox> If only everyone would do this. </soapbox>

Can somebody please check on this site again? It's been over 6 months since this thread started. (It has now been been expanded considerably, but ALL pages are STILL valid!)

I kind of like the idea that sites which use valid code on ALL pages should be given priority at ODP somehow. <img src="/images/icons/grin.gif" alt="" />

Imagine how many site designers would suddenly pay a *LOT* more attention to validating their web site(s)? That would certainly please the W3C, which has recently improved their online validator. Maybe this idea to clear up some of the backlog could be put on the table for further discussion?

As a designer determined to make every page I post on the web pass the W3C tests, this is obviously a self-serving suggestion. But, I'm in such a small minority, it would not cause any problem(s). On the other hand, word getting out that ODP editors like to see sites with all valid pages would be a VERY positive message to send out to everybody!

Maybe approving THIS submission could start that? <img src="/images/icons/grin.gif" alt="" />

Thank you for your feedback and any possible consideration.

Well, now it's been over a year since I first inquired on the status of this site in this forum. Can I get a update?

Any chance it can be reviewed and approved soon since it has waited patiently for over a year?

Since all links in this category are made by simply using artists' names, I'd think that would make it much easier to do.

If an editor with EditAll privileges could help to break up this logjam, many artists would be very appreciative.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation!

P.S. ALL pages still valid HTML according to W3C. ;)

Looks like that area lacks good and hard working editors. I am afraud that not much has been done there in the meantime.

That is the problem of projects where volunteers work: If there is a lack of qualified enthusiasts [hmmm, how do you write this word...] then work piles up.

Well, now it has been over TWO years since I requested this site to be included.

Any chance an editor who has EditAll access can help me out here? Pretty please? (Thank you very much in advance!)

Please note - if you can pass the meta review and you can submit 2 of your competitor sites - and describe them - lol - i figure that is good enough to tell you to take matters into your own hands. You might be the next editall. Who knows.
