aedge3 Posted September 22, 2003 Posted September 22, 2003 Is there any difference between these two links? Most categories have the Add URL but the one I'm TRYING to add to has the Suggest URL link. Is the Add URL link working while the Suggest URL link is not or are both not functional at present?
lachenm Posted September 22, 2003 Posted September 22, 2003 There is no difference except the wording that you see. Categories that were updated more recently have the "Suggest URL" wording, which will eventually appear in all categories. The change was made to clarify the point that suggesting URLs does not necessarily guarantee inclusion in the directory. If you check, you will see both links access the same script: http://dmoz.org/cgi-bin/add.cgi Also, if you look around the various forums here, you will see plenty of threads regarding current problems with the site suggestion process. Staff is aware of the problems and is working on a fix. Editors have no control over the process.
aedge3 Posted September 22, 2003 Author Posted September 22, 2003 I added a site to this category about a year ago and it took quite awhile to get it listed. Is there any way to tell whether there is currently an editor for a category? I was able to figure out how to email an editor before but I forgot how...does anyone know?
Meta windharp Posted September 22, 2003 Meta Posted September 22, 2003 Look at the bottom of the page, if there is an editor listed. If not, look at the categories higher up the tree - most categories are attended from above. Curlie Meta/kMeta Editor windharp
