Guest Posted August 12, 2002 Posted August 12, 2002 Hi there, I applied to become an editor of the /Society/Organizations/Education/Children%27s_International_Summer_Villages/ group immediately after the group was created (it was created after I suggested a logical grouping of sites relating to this organization). What is the expected wait-time for such applications? I'm all eager and ready to go /images/icons/smile.gif
Guest qbp Posted August 12, 2002 Posted August 12, 2002 "Days, weeks, months, who knows." No one really knows how long it'll take...basically, it depends on how many applications there are, how many metas are working on them, how much research is done, etc. Lots of factors /images/icons/smile.gif The best thing you can do is just wait and see /images/icons/smile.gif I had mine in 2 days, I've heard of 8 hours (!!!) before, so you can see it's really not a definate thing. We're all volunteers, please remember that /images/icons/smile.gif Hope this helps /images/icons/laugh.gif
Guest Posted August 14, 2002 Posted August 14, 2002 I also applied to become an editor and it has been few weeks...still waiting...Is there someone who can check the status ("shilpi")...I think I submitted pretty relavant sites to the category I applied to...i have read posts that it takes time as there are very few editors working on approval but it would be helpful if there is a deadline...thanks in advance if someone can clarify...
hildea Posted August 14, 2002 Posted August 14, 2002 You are still in the queue, shilpi. /images/icons/smile.gif There are about 100 people who can handle new applications. It's impossible to guess how long time any one application will have to wait - it depends, among other things, on how easy or difficult the application is, and how many people are handling applications in the different parts of the directory. (Metas can handle (almost) all apps, but most choose to focus on the areas we know best.) Myself, I had to wait a bit more than a month. But then applying for a relatively big cat in an obscure language, as I did, isn't the best way to get a quick acceptance. Regards, Hilde
Meta windharp Posted August 15, 2002 Meta Posted August 15, 2002 Unchecked, but from that what is visible in hildeas bookmarks I'd guess it was Norwegian /images/icons/smile.gif Curlie Meta/kMeta Editor windharp
hildea Posted August 15, 2002 Posted August 15, 2002 Spot on, windharp /images/icons/smile.gif I had only planned to take care of World/Norsk/Spill (=Games). But then I kind of got stuck in there... Hilde
Guest alnilam Posted August 15, 2002 Posted August 15, 2002 qbp, that's not the fastest time of checking. I got an answer in about 5 minutes... They had rejected me! /images/icons/wink.gif
Guest qbp Posted August 16, 2002 Posted August 16, 2002 Alnilam I meant for the initial review...I've certainly had faster with newperms /images/icons/smile.gif
