that has been asked and answered before but what do the stars under the ratings mean? And how does a thread get them? Is it by how many view the thread or by importance?

Thanks

I did look but couldn't find anything but I admit that I gave up because the site is sooooooo slow for me right now.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. <img src="/images/icons/smile.gif" alt="" />

"Are you behind a firewall (router/software)?"

Isn't everyone?? If not they should be! <img src="/images/icons/smile.gif" alt="" />

I use ZoneAlarm. I just added resource-zone to my local zone so I can accept the cookie, though I didn't want to have to do that and shouldn't have to do it, but did it anyway. <img src="/images/icons/tongue.gif" alt="" /> Hoping that fixes the slow login time.

I can also confirm that on dial-up access it works quickly, but when sitting on a network that connects using ADSL (broadband) via a proxy server with ZoneAlarm installed, all is painfully slow.

Uhgg! I had to turn off my routers firewall and open the TCP port required in ZoneAlarm Pro.

Hopefully they will come up with a solution. <img src="/images/icons/grin.gif" alt="" />

It does work better since I changed my ZoneAlarm settings but it's really not a good thing for us security conscious web surfers. Plus, it's not necessary. I have cookie authorization on the site I'm developing using php and mysql. I have no problem with my firewall and my computer accepts the cookie without doing any changes to my firewall's security settings. <img src="/images/icons/frown.gif" alt="" />

Agreed and I'm sure they are working on it <img src="/images/icons/smile.gif" alt="" />

I was able to get my router back up by allowing their IP and port through. Still have to keep it open on ZoneAlarm of course but I always feel safer behind the "hardware" <img src="/images/icons/smile.gif" alt="" />

P.S. I forgot how many port scans etc takes place without the router blocking. I was getting hammered and Zone Alarm built up quite a log in such a few short hours. <img src="/images/icons/frown.gif" alt="" />

old_crone,

They seemed to have changed the need to open port 7869 so you can change back your settings <img src="/images/icons/grin.gif" alt="" />

Thanks Guys for doing this <img src="/images/icons/cool.gif" alt="" />

I think this question falls under this thread title <img src="/images/icons/laugh.gif" alt="" />

What are all the stars under different users names? Is this discussed elsewhere and I missed it?

I have seen the "rate this thread" function - don't think I used it, but I know where it is?

Is this run by the number of posts like:

xx= star

xxx= star star star

Feel stupid but I thought I would ask since I have all these stars and not sure where they came from <img src="/images/icons/blush.gif" alt="" />

giz,

<<A new feature introduced on 2002-08-18. To rate this thread, scroll down to the very bottom of this page, and there it is at the bottom left.>>

Read my previous : "I have seen the "rate this thread" function - don't think I used it, but I know where it is" .

Neil had answered my question <img src="/images/icons/laugh.gif" alt="" />

Thanks,

Dave
