Guest Posted August 26, 2002 Posted August 26, 2002 A few weeks ago I submitted www.buybarcode.com to Computers/Hardware/Peripherals/Bar_Code. A couple of months ago I submitted to the same category and did not see my listing so I am very interested in the status of this submission. Any information is greatly appreciated. -Camp
Meta windharp Posted August 26, 2002 Meta Posted August 26, 2002 Just tried to see which company runs thast site. Difficult task, I was unable to solve it. Since there is no information about the company on the site, as a customer I for myself would not buy anything there. Maybe the reviewing editor thought like me? Curlie Meta/kMeta Editor windharp
old_crone Posted August 26, 2002 Posted August 26, 2002 Contact information is at the bottom of the page - http://www.buybarcode.com/home/contact/
totalxsive Posted August 26, 2002 Posted August 26, 2002 Old_Crone is right. The lack of contact details has been the reason why your site has not been listed in the past. I have re-added it to the submission queue with a note saying how to get the contact details. However, you may wish to make this a more prominent feature on your site. AFAIK, where I live in the UK, there are plans afoot to make it illegal to run an e-commerce site without giving a postal address and telephone number, and many consumers will take this on board. Sorry about the misunderstanding. Hopefully your site will be listed ASAP.
old_crone Posted August 26, 2002 Posted August 26, 2002 The main company is Datavision-Prologix, Inc. http://www.datavision.com/home/
Guest Posted August 26, 2002 Posted August 26, 2002 I appreciate the feedback from everyone. Thanks for the good advice on the contact information - a new 'HELP' section with a link at the top of each page should make this information more readily available. Thanks again. -Camp
old_crone Posted August 26, 2002 Posted August 26, 2002 Datavision-Prologix, Inc. is listed in the ODP under a different url http://www.mysaprf.com/sapconsole/ - http://dmoz.org/Computers/Software/ERP/SAP/R3/
totalxsive Posted August 26, 2002 Posted August 26, 2002 Thanks old_crone, we've taken that on board.
Guest Posted August 26, 2002 Posted August 26, 2002 Does it matter that Datavision owns BuyBarcode.com when the content of the two sites is different? I understand why you would not list datavision.com and mysaprf.com - they are mirror sites. However, BuyBarcode.com is completely separate from these in terms of the information it provides. Do you agree? Again, I appreciate this feedback. -Camp
totalxsive Posted August 26, 2002 Posted August 26, 2002 I see nothing wrong (well, other than having 2 mirrors for the same site). The focus of the two sites is clearly different, and there aren't any obvious links between the two. Maybe this is just my interpretation of the guidelines, but I feel that both the consumer site (buybarcode.com) and one of the corporate sites are eligable for listing.
sabre23t Posted August 27, 2002 Posted August 27, 2002 Even if there are "obvious links" between the two, I would believe that it'll be a similar situation to deeplinking to company sites, and a question of whether the product sites (or deeplinks) have unique content.
