Thats not the way we run the ODP. It is not a directory intended to advertising sites, but to deliver sites to the user. Se we look at the sites from the users point of view. Since we think that he prefers sites with content and not such without, we made our rules like they are.

How much unique content?

Well, that's pretty much the editors decision, since it is related to the category the site would be listed in, the number of sites, ...

The answer is still the same as above.

As the ODP has grown in size our expectations of directories has also grown somewhat and directories really do have to offer a substantial amount of useful content, not already available within the ODP, before a listing will be considered. If the information is already available within the ODP then the site offers nothing 'unique' to our users.

We cannot and will not walk a webmaster through the process of making a site listable from an editor point-of-view. It is up the the webmaster to 'mould their creation' but the reality is that getting a directory listed these days is not an easy job and it is unlikely to ever get easier.

Still not enough content.

eg - You have 2 B&Bs in Cornwall whereas we already have hundreds listed.

eg - You have no hotels listed - merely a collection of deeplinks to another directory.

eg - You have one car hire company in the whole of Cornwall.

The more content that ODP already has on a topic, the harder it is for a late comer to the party to add value to it. You've a long way to go yet.

OK, apologies for starting a new thread - I forgot I'd asked about this site.

If you must ask -- and you've been requested not to

Yes, I'd like to ask, and no I don't recall being asked not to!

Thanks

Well -- you've been told the site is not going to be listed. I suppose you weren't specifically asked not to ask....

Status is as follows:

http://www.cornwalls.co.uk/photos/ listed in http://dmoz.org/Regional/Europe/United_Kingdom/England/Cornwall/Maps_and_Views/ :o

http://www.cornwalls.co.uk/ declined a couple times on or before 1 April 2004. No change of status since then. If you've resubmitted between then and one month ago, you may ask for status again, as this status report is then incomplete.

In the last year the amount of content on this site has increased vastly. It is all original, extensively researched and constantly expanding. I have used several other sites in this category as benchmarks and I beleive my site has more (and certainly more up to date) content than most of them. Also there is a lot less vested interest/commercial content than many of the others.

I would appreciate it if someone would have another look at the site and let me know the status.

Thanks
