Guest Posted September 2, 2002 Posted September 2, 2002 Hello. In my first term as a graduate student at the University of Michigan, Fall 2000, I wrote a paper on ODP. I put it in my personal space on a umich web server. At some point I learned that my ODP paper had been listed in ODP: http://directory.google.com/Top/Home/Consumer_Information/Computers_and_Internet/Internet/Directories/Open_Directory_Project/ (Link name is "Open Directory Project: How?") I recently looked up web statistics and found that the paper has been accessed almost 2000 times since October 2001. This is an average of about 200 per month, and interest seems to continue: 176 hits last month. I don't know who's looking at it (or could this be hits from web robots?). Anyway, because people continue to link to it I thought it might be of interest to this community. Here's the link: http://www-personal.umich.edu/~klibner/dmoz/dmoz.pdf I would welcome any comments. Meta windharp Posted September 2, 2002 Meta Posted September 2, 2002 I have to state I was unaware of this article till now. Very nice, huge amount of information. Learned a lot, thanks :-) Needless to say that - since its rather old now and as you stated yourself the ODP evolves - several details are outdated, but I think it still describes the basics very well. Curlie Meta/kMeta Editor windharp

Guest Posted September 3, 2002 Posted September 3, 2002 I listed the site because it clearly filled a void in the information "portrait" of ODP. I'm very glad to hear it gets plenty of hits. Google (and a few other search engines) probably visits now and then to see if it is still there, but I will bet a year's editing salary that a large majority of the rest is from people interested in ODP.
Guest staylor965 Posted September 3, 2002 Posted September 3, 2002 Excellent work! Thanks for sharing.
