Guest maven Posted October 1, 2002 Posted October 1, 2002 Hi, We would like to know if there has been any change to the status of this submission. Thank You
Guest maven Posted October 16, 2002 Posted October 16, 2002 Hello, We submitted our site to the category above ( http://dmoz.org/Business/Food_and_Related_Products/Food_Processing/Equipment/ ), but we just found that the site was listed in another category under the old url (kandaind.com), and must have been submitted by the old webmaster without our knowledge. We didn't realize the site was listed already, because it didn't come up in a search using the terms 'roasting equipment', 'coffee roasting', or 'coffee roasting equipment', which are our main search terms. The site is currently listed (under the old url) in the category http://dmoz.org/Business/Food_and_Related_Products/Foodservice_Equipment/Beverage/, which we believe is the wrong category. We don't supply food service equipment, but provide industrial coffee processing equipment to companies who supply food service companies with product. The description of the current listing is also quite vague, and doesn't come up in any of the relevant searches we've tried. We'd like to get the site listed in the category we recently submitted to, or one where I know one of our competitors is listed (whichever is more appropriate, but we believe the current submission is correct) with a valid description of our services under the new url. One of our competitors in the region is currently listed in the category: http://dmoz.org/Business/Industrial_Goods_and_Services/Machinery_and_Tools/Process_Equipment/ Our old url does point to the current site, because we had it parked on the new site in case someone had it bookmarked, but we're not sure if we will renew that domain name past 2004. How can we remedy this situation? We're very sorry to have submitted our site after already being listed, but as it's listed now, even we could not find it until now while looking to see if this submission was accepted into another category. Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Guest maven Posted October 28, 2002 Posted October 28, 2002 Anyone? We sincerely appreciate your consideration. Thanks
beebware Posted October 28, 2002 Posted October 28, 2002 Private message me with the old URL and the rest of the details and I'll look into it. I'm not going to promise to review your site, but I'll sort out the old URL vs the new one issue.
Guest maven Posted October 28, 2002 Posted October 28, 2002 Hi, The old url now points to the new site, as does the new url. We did this to cover having the old url on old business stationery that past customers might use to find the site using the old url printed on the forms. The problem is that the site is listed under the old url (http://www.kandaind.com), in (we feel) an inappropriate category, which we didn't realize when we submitted the current submission. We are worried that the editor might reject the current one thinking we were trying to list the same site under different urls. Whatever happens, we'd much rather end up with the site listed where we applied for it this time, and with the description we submitted this time. As the site is now listed, our most common search terms don't bring up our current listing. I'm not asking for any special consideration, just that our site is currently listed, and we'd like to transition to the category: http://dmoz.org/Business/Food_and_Related_Products/Food_Processing/Equipment/ , with a description that contains the words coffee, roasting, and equipment in it. We'd like to know the best way to try to remedy the situation, even if it's deleting the old listing and leaving this submission until it's considered. The current listing is practically useless as it stands. We really appreciate you taking the time to respond, and would be fine with you deleting the current listing if that's the course of action you'd recommend. Thank You
beebware Posted October 28, 2002 Posted October 28, 2002 Your site is now awaiting review in Business/Food_and_Related_Products/Food_Processing/Equipment along with around 50 other sites. The old site has been removed and appropriatly tagged with your new URL for future reference. >> description that contains the words coffee, roasting, and equipment in it << I'm not reviewing the site for inclusion so I can't comment on what may or may not be in the eventual description, but I can say that if the local editor thinks that those keywords are relevant to the site and the category they will be included. Likewise, if the editor feels that the keywords won't add anything sufficient to the description, then they won't be included.
Guest maven Posted October 28, 2002 Posted October 28, 2002 Thanks, Our site is a business site that sells, engineers, and services all equipment having to do with large scale industrial coffee roasting (conveyors, roasters, grinders, hullers, packaging equipment). I can't remember exactly what description we submitted a few months ago, but it was something pretty short and basic after we looked over the submission guidelines. I do know it contained the words coffee, roasting, and equipment, and I would hope that those words wouldn't be inflamitory in regards to our site description listing. I remember thinking that it might be pared down by a few words right after submission, or possibly worded a little better, but it was too late and we thought the editor might change it a little anyway. Thanks so much for your assistance. <img src="/images/icons/smile.gif" alt="" />

uzs980 Posted November 24, 2002 Posted November 24, 2002 Nothing new about it. The queue in that category is still at about 50 sites.
