My site that is listed in my profile was listed in two categories in the ODP. One regional, and one not. The listing shows up in the search but has disappeared from the main category. What's wrong?

Thanks for any info /images/icons/smile.gif

apeuro,

Not to bother you with details but what exactly is "inappropriately deleted"? I ask because I have received a message from "someone"@hotmail stating they "own a multi-million dollar home improvement business, and they are *#%-off because my site has bumped them in their search categories" and they are "going to have my site banned from search engines". I do nothing wrong at my site and have original content etc. I was removed from Googles index about a week ago and had to write them. They restored my site after contacting me by email. Maybe I'm just getting paranoid about this whole thing :/images/dmoz/purplegrin.gif

Nothing to worry about. It's was simply an editor misunderstanding about the pratice of listing sites in both Regional/ and Business/. It's perfectly fine, but the editor didn't realize that.

I'll just add to what enarra already said that no "multi-million dollar home improvement business" could ever interfere with our judgement about listing sites in the appropriate categories. If your site has good content and complies with the ODP Guidelines nobody can get you banned here. That's one of the advantages of being a volunteer-edited directory, where the primary goal is to build a comprehensive resource for the public, no matter who owns the sites reviewed and listed.

ettore,

Thanks for your reply. After posting and following the threads in these forums I believe I have found a new meaning for "ODP"- The "Open Dialog Project". Everyone has been very helpful to myself and others. It's too bad the large Search Engines do not have such a forum to sort out problems, and educate the public on their inner workings.

Thanks Again /images/dmoz/purplegrin.gif
