Guest MikeOrther Posted September 10, 2002 Posted September 10, 2002 I know it probably doesn't matter, but the date for posting is now reflecting 10/09/02 instead of 09/09/02.
dstanovic Posted September 10, 2002 Posted September 10, 2002 Since this is in bugs/features. I believe this is a "feature" showing dd/mm/yy <img src="/images/icons/smile.gif" alt="" />
giz Posted September 10, 2002 Posted September 10, 2002 The original poster said that the date displayed is 10/09/02, and indeed that is what is stamped on the post. What the original poster did not say, was what the date and time was with him, on the clock on the wall of his house, and exactly where in the world he is - i.e. what Time Zone he is in. This forum defaults to one of the US time zones (I don't remember which one), but you can set an offset in your profile so that it displays the date and time in your own local time. I have set my Offset up, so the time _should_ now display for me in UTC. The only problem that I do notice with the displayed time, is that the clock is about 20 minutes slow compared with what it should be! Can someone update the server, or install a program that queries one of the many NTP servers for an update now and again? Time Zones are complicated. We are just about to see some areas starting their Daylight Saving Time (Southern Hemisphere), while the Northern Hemisphere is just about to end their Daylight Savings Time. This does not happen on the same date in all countries. See: http://www.timeanddate.com/time/dst2002b.html for more.
Meta windharp Posted September 11, 2002 Meta Posted September 11, 2002 @dstanovic: Till now it was depending on the language you set for the forum, if I am right. Did that change for english? dstanovic Posted September 11, 2002 Posted September 11, 2002 windharp, No way to change the date format in personal settings etc <img src="/images/icons/smile.gif" alt="" /> This was discussed here: http://www.resource-zone.com/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=tes&Number=6397&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=&fpart=1
Meta windharp Posted September 11, 2002 Meta Posted September 11, 2002 Right, I was searching that thread, too. As you can see in my post there, it has been like this for me all the time. :-) :-) Curlie Meta/kMeta Editor windharp
giz Posted September 12, 2002 Posted September 12, 2002 When this forum went live early in 2002, it used the old-style US "12/31/99 12:59 PM" date and time format. Then, more recently, for a short while it used the 99/12/31 date format which is close to the International Style, but it is now set to the 31/12/99 format as has been used in some European Countries. My original point, above, was meant to also say to the original poster to check which time zone offset was being used in your Resource Zone profile setup, as this may have been responsible for the display of the wrong date and time on postings - they may have the date and time of another place. Note that the offset is from Eastern Standard Time (UTC-0500) and not from UTC as would normally be expected.
