Guest jimcat Posted December 24, 2003 Posted December 24, 2003 Is there any things wrong so that site http://bigcatcat.com cannot be listed in ODP? How to improve it? Pls. advise.
jimnoble Posted December 24, 2003 Posted December 24, 2003 We can't answer that sort of question here. It's probably better if you ask this in one of the webmaster forums such as http://www.cre8asiteforums.com/
giz Posted December 25, 2003 Posted December 25, 2003 There is a site review section over at www.searchengineforums.com too.
foetusized Posted December 27, 2003 Posted December 27, 2003 Since you are using ODP data in your directory, it will very likely not be listed in the ODP until you follow the license terms as shown on http://dmoz.org/license.html , particularly section 2 about the required attribution. See the Using ODP Data section of this forum for more information about the license -- Foe
Guest jimcat Posted January 1, 2004 Posted January 1, 2004 Is this ok now? I don't know it needs to put the open directory resource box before. Now, I put it in every page.
Guest Posted January 1, 2004 Posted January 1, 2004 I can see the box, but the links don't work as required. I end up getting a page that includes I'm sorry, we can't find the category [$cat]. You probably got here from a bad link on a site that uses our data. The $cat in the link needs to be replaced by the name of the actual dmoz category. Take the submit a site link on http://www.bigcatcat.com/pseek/Electronic_Products/ which currently says http://dmoz.org/cgi-bin/add.cgi?where=$cat should be http://dmoz.org/cgi-bin/add.cgi?where=Business/Consumer_Goods_and_Services/Electronics as that is the actual DMOZ category. the same applies to the 'Become an Editor' link.
brmehlman Posted January 1, 2004 Posted January 1, 2004 [What was here was almost word for word identical to the above post, but using a different example category] Since we're solely discussing license compliance here, I wonder if a moderator would be so kind as to move this thread to the Using ODP Data forum and leave a placeholder behind here?
giz Posted January 1, 2004 Posted January 1, 2004 >> move this thread to the Using ODP Data forum << Appears to have been done.
