esteneker Posted January 15, 2004 Posted January 15, 2004 Hello, I humbly request you the submission status of my site, which was submitted on October, 23rd, 2003: URL http://www.customerservicepoint.com/ Submitted to http://www.dmoz.org/Business/Customer_Service/Resources/ Thank you in advance for your time! Kind regards, Erwin Steneker
bobrat Posted January 15, 2004 Posted January 15, 2004 It appears to have been submitted several times, both to http://dmoz.org/Business/Customer_Service/ and http://dmoz.org/Business/Customer_Service/Resources/ It is currently waiting in the latter category.
esteneker Posted January 16, 2004 Author Posted January 16, 2004 Thanks Bobrat, I have resubmitted it to DMOZ once, because I felt it a better fit in the customer_service/resource category, rather than in the more general customer_service category. Hope you guys don't consider it spam... As I understood it, the 2nd submission would delete the 1st. According to your reaction, I think this is the case. Correct? Also, if you have the time, could you tell me a ballpark figure for # sites to be reviewed in the resource category? Your time is greatly appreciated! I'll check in again in a month (or 2). Thanks, Erwin.
bobrat Posted January 16, 2004 Posted January 16, 2004 The second submission generally replaces the first, but only in the same category. Sorry, but the forum policy changed some time ago, and we no longer give out numbers of heaps or relative "position".
Meta hutcheson Posted January 16, 2004 Meta Posted January 16, 2004 Speaking only for myself: I would not consider that spam. The submittal policy allows two submittals (with a 3-week interval, which I think is a bit low..) If, upon maturer consideration, you feel that you can find a more appropriate category, then I think you're helping us by sending the second submittal in that direction. And (again, my opinion only) chances are, if the SECOND thought is a more SPECIFIC category, it is very likely to be better.

esteneker Posted March 14, 2004 Author Posted March 14, 2004 It is still waiting to be reviewed. Thanks Raggedyrugs. Just out of curiousity (asked in the best of spirits, and to save us all time): If no-one here can answer how long it will take before review, and assuming that posting here does not speed up the process, why request a status update at all? Thanks in advance, Best regards, Erwin.
bobrat Posted March 14, 2004 Posted March 14, 2004 The status update simply confirms that you are still awaiting review. This is mostly to help site owners who are unsure whether the site got accepted into the review process. The status request may also confirm that a site has not been accepted into DMOZ for various reasons. Some of this may preclude a site ever being accepted, others might be that the site was not working, or was under construction at some point, and allows a site to be resubmitted once the problems have been fixed. All these answers are considered useful. I realize it would be nice to know when a site will be reviewed, but that is totally impossible to answer because of the way ODP works.
Alucard Posted March 14, 2004 Posted March 14, 2004 I tend to agree with you - I wonder why so many people, once they know that a submission has been made into the best category for a URL, need to keep coming back and asking for status. But they do, and we will gladly provide that service.

From now on, I trust that my site is awaiting review, and in time will be accepted... or not. De groeten! (Dutch for "see ya!") Erwin.
bobrat Posted March 15, 2004 Posted March 15, 2004 What you can do for yourself, is type in customerservicepoint.com in the ODP search, if your site does get listed, that will show which category[ies] it got listed in. That save all the hassle of posting here.
esteneker Posted May 17, 2004 Author Posted May 17, 2004 What you can do for yourself' date=' is type in [b']customerservicepoint.com[/b] in the ODP search, if your site does get listed, that will show which category[ies"] it got listed in. That save all the hassle of posting here. Search isn't working to date as you stated. So, I can't resist to just check in. Editall/Catmv arubin Posted May 17, 2004 Editall/Catmv Posted May 17, 2004 No change since your last request. Sorry. Even though dmoz search is down, you can check the Google directory at http://directory.google.com or do a Google search within DMOZ. The latter won't allow you to search for the URL, but will allow a search for your organization's name.
