Guest Posted September 25, 2002 Posted September 25, 2002 Any news on this site - submitted to - Top/Regional/Europe/United_Kingdom/Business_and_Economy/Property/Relocation/ Thanks
uzs980 Posted September 25, 2002 Posted September 25, 2002 Please include a clickable link next time. That URL hasn't been touched yet. I am not an editor in Regional/Europe/United Kingdom/Business and Economy/Property/Relocation so I can't say whether it's in the unreviewed queue (which is not very long) or not. Anyways, I think you might have chosen the wrong category. The Regional/Europe/United Kingdom/Business and Economy/Property branch is for services throughout the United Kingdom. But on the site it reads "Home hunters property consultants specialise in 'relocation Leicestershire'". So I think it would have been better to submit to Regional/Europe/United Kingdom/England/Leicestershire/Business and Economy/Property. There is no queue at all in that category, so your site would probably be reviewed quite fast there.
beebware Posted September 25, 2002 Posted September 25, 2002 Your site is _not_ in the unreviewed queue for http://dmoz.org/Regional/Europe/United_Kingdom/Business_and_Economy/Property and there are no internal editor notes that show your submission was moved, reviewed or deleted from elsewhere.
uzs980 Posted September 25, 2002 Posted September 25, 2002 Have you also looked at Regional/Europe/United Kingdom/Business and Economy/Property/Relocation?
jimnoble Posted September 25, 2002 Posted September 25, 2002 Yup, it was there. Unless they provide a truly UK wide service, organisations such as yours are listed in their localities. In your case, that seems to be Leicester. The submission has now been moved to unreviewed in http://dmoz.org/Regional/Europe/United_Kingdom/England/Leicestershire/Leicester/Business_and_Economy/ . The queue there is extremely short and the category has a very active editor.
uzs980 Posted September 25, 2002 Posted September 25, 2002 Looking at http://www.homehunters-midlands.co.uk/contact.html, I think the category of the locality would be Regional/Europe/United Kingdom/England/Leicestershire/Glenfield.
Guest Posted October 2, 2002 Posted October 2, 2002 I can see the logic, but they target the midlands, because they are based in Glenfield is irrelevant in my eyes, its just a suburb of Leicester. I picked the original submission directory because its description most accurately describes their service - nationwide or not. If I put them in regional, they just become another local business. Their target market is worldwide - professionals and business coming to the area, that have specific requirements such as schools, leisure facilities, house sizes etc.
Meta hutcheson Posted October 2, 2002 Meta Posted October 2, 2002 >>If I put them in regional, they just become another local business. Their target market is worldwide. This is true of all real estate sites. But their SERVICE is always ... just another local business. There are so many real estate sites that a "global" category would be basically useless for users. And, for real estate in particular (since it's a spam-prone topic dominated by high-pressure personality types) treatment of the sites is written into the guidelines, and not subject to debate.
Editall/Catmv lissa Posted October 2, 2002 Editall/Catmv Posted October 2, 2002 In general, sites in Regional are classified by physical location, not by coverage area or target market. Sites that are listed at a level higher than locality (county or state in the US) have more than one physical location (such as store or restaurant chains.)
