Your site has not been reviewed yet, but it is now number one when sorting the site suggestions by submission date.

Thanks for the quick reply Robert,

I hope the submissions are reviewed in the order they were sent :smirk:.
How long does it take for a site that is reviewed and approved to show up in the directory?

Thanks again,
Peter

Editors can check submissions in any order they want.

When a site has been reviewed and accepted, it's a matter of some minutes up to some days until it is visible in the dmoz.org category page. Passing on the data to external users like directory.google.com usually takes a little bit longer - it depends on when they pick up the new data provided by the ODP.

Robert

They usually aren't.

"NORMALLY" (all daemons behaving, all servers up, no software upgrades with glitches -- in other words, do not bet money you need on it)

1) dmoz.org public pages -- 1 minute to 7 days;
2) RDF (published Open Directory Database) -- 4 to 10 days
3) google.com and AOL.com DIRECTORIES: 2 months "or so"
4) google.com SEARCH: several weeks at most (after step 2)

Note that all of these are automatic processes, programmed fallibly and run intermittantly by other people. This is all based on our prior experience or rumors of other people's activity. So if it doesn't happen this way, don't ask us why, and don't blame us!

Thanks for the informative answers.
The category that I'm trying to get into doesn't have an editor, so I guess this will make my waiting even longer.

I appreciate your help,
Peter

Actually, it can be otherwise. There have been occasions that I would send a site to unreviewed or leave a site in unreviewed, because there is a listed editor. I would guess a number of us (of the 200 or so) that can edit directory wide, does the same.

The status has not changed. It is still awaiting review in that category. Sorry the news isn't better.

Feel free to ask again after another month.

Your site reviewed and added to Computers/Programming/Internet/ASP/ASP.NET/Web_Hosting category.

Some time ago I have mysterious problems with your site (down, redirects), but now all ok. :D
Sorry for long time waiting.

Vladimir,

Thanks for reviewing my site :).
I've just checked my listing and I noticed that the link to my site is correct, but the text of the link is ASPHosting.ca, not ASP-Hosting.ca - the dash is missing.

How do I proceed to get this changed?

If it's too complicated I guess I can leave it like this.

Thanks again,
Peter

I'm sorry to bring this thread back to life, but I have a question.

My site www.asp-hosting.ca was originally listed in:

Computers/Programming/Internet/ASP/ASP.NET/Web_Hosting category

and recently was moved to:

Computers: Programming: Internet: ASP: ASP.NET: Web Hosting: A

I'm almost positive the link to my website while listed under the first category
was www.asp-hosting.ca and now is asp-hosting.ca (without www).

Can I ask you to change it back to www.asp-hosting.ca if that's not a big deal?

Thanks in advance,
Peter

If both URLs work, we are unlikely to make the type of change you are asking about.

You are welcome to go to the category where the site is listed and do an "Update URL" request, as those sorts of things need to be handled in the proscribed manner. Just don't get your hopes up. Now, if one were to have a 301 permanent redirect to the other, your request would most certainly be granted (once an editor got to it).
