A couple of recurrent points of confusion (worth mentioning because they are widespread in the internet marketing racket):
For our purposes, the "shopping-cart" content you describe is irrelevant and inconsequential. Many sites already listed in Shopping categories DON'T have that. Millions of sites that cannot be listed ANYWHERE in the Open Directory, DO have that. We don't presume to tell people how they can take orders for their product. The Shopping categories are open for websites of ANY COMPANY that provide the requisite INFORMATION.
I should also mention, "content that other sites in the category have" is by definition non-unique. What a site needs in order to qualify for a listing is UNIQUE content, which is by definition "content that other sites in the category DON'T have."
