Is there a way to know the status of a submission? I have submitted two sites: http://www.ethosadvisory.com and
http://www.echievements.com Frankly, I may not have made the correct category submission. Learning to do this correctly and effectively is important to me. Please comment if you have any suggestions. Thanks.

http://www.echievements.com/ if it was submitted to a category has not been reviewed yet. Without knowing which category you have submitted it to it is impossible to tell it's status.

You are absolutely right. When an editor here tells you the submittal has disappeared (which happens, but very rarely) then it would be time to resubmit.
