I have applied for listing over a year ago and am not asking for submission status has I know that has been discontinued. given that I have heard nothing positive in that time do you think I should resubmit my site.

I also understand that editing is very time consuming and that there is a shortage of editors in some sections, so why haver I not heard about my offer to help and become an editor. I had confirmations of my application and a number given but nothing since. Not even a "No Thanks."
Kind Regards

You must reply to the first email you receive in order to confirm the email address you used as being real, and only then is the application put into the queue.

Most applications are reviewed within 6 weeks, or so, I do believe - and an email is sent out; but it is known that that email sometimes falls foul of the spam filters of some ISPs. Check your junkmail folder just in case.

There are a few people each month, who having been accepted as editors fail to log on at all. We assume that they either lost interest, or the acceptance mail went astray.

It takes up as much time as you are willing to give it. You can edit all day every day, or if you only have 30 minutes per month available, then that is also fine.

If your site hasn't been listed after 6 months, and you think it could have possibly gone missing, then one, and only one resubmission (of the same URL to the same category) isn't going to be a major problem.

If it was more than say 2 or 3 weeks ago, then you can ask for the status of that application in the appropriate section here...

Absolute Frustration

I have been trying to put my quite ordinary site on DEMOZ for the last tweleve months. It is not controversial , adult or pornographic, just an ordinary site selling nautical items. I have met with the most arrogant, self interested load of people you woud not believe. The problem is that DEMOZ has been corrupted by the very methods it uses. It has not moved with the times or technology. I think that the quicker people like AOL move from using it it the better.

ps.
Why does DEMOZ even bother with pornographic site at the expense of ordinary sites like mine.

Frankly, I don't see how an editor listing a site in one area of the directory could possibly have any detrimental affect on the area where you suggested your site. But, hey, I'm blonde; I get confused a lot. :p

No offense intended, but have you actually checked to see if your site is listed, before coming into the forum with a, shall we say, less than cordial demeanor, blithely tossing accusations about?

Try that and then, if you still have questions, please feel free to come back and ask.

One has to wonder why you wanted to be an editor, with that negative attitude about the ODP.

I have to agree with DesertJules, even about the blond part. :D Whether someone adds one or one hundred porn sites, or shopping sites, or any other type of site makes absolutely no impact on me adding sites in another part of the directory.

That site was submitted more than twenty times. That definitely slows time to listing. BTW, it's DMOZ. :)

I'll second that motion. :icon_idea

There's no indication of a walk in store on the websiite and it seems to have been listed within Shropshire in error.

That error has been corrected.

Oh, and your application to be an editor was declined. Following your rant above, we presume that you won't wish to try again.

Site Submission time

Threads merged. Please don't start new ones about the same subject.

I have submitted my site Clipperlight.Com to DMOZ well over a year ago, I was told after 6 months that it was still under review. I amk still not listed or told any reason why. I have offered to give some of my time up to be an editor, in order to help and I have heard nothing. Has anyone had similar experiences.

I asked to be an editor for http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Home_and_Garden/Accessories/Nautical/ under the display name Clipan. I had an aknowledgement e.mail 445007bdcO3fbgolded6cbdF3E49bGF

You really should keep your editor application queries to your original thread. And if you would like to have someone tell you the status of this application, please read the FAQ thread in this forum and provide all of the required information.
