Thanks Jim,
I've resubmitted, with a more explicit breakdown of the sites I've contributed to or designed in the past. Perhaps I didn't outline them in enough detail in the first submission. Hopefully this time, my application will get through - it's certainly frustrating, since I'd really like to be an editor, but its encouraging that all applications are carefully reviewed - it means that only the best candidates will get accepted. I'm keeping my fingers and toes crossed!

Best wishes,
Melanie

Hi,
sorry to keep bothering you. Would it be possible to please check on the status of my existing application, submitted 24th August 2012? I just want to make sure that it was received and is awaiting evaluation.

Many thanks
Mel

Hi,
just a quick email to check if my application to become editor of http://www.dmoz.org/Arts/Music/Concerts_and_Events/Guides/ is any closer to evaluation? I'm really keen to become an editor and to help improve and grow DMOZ, as I find it an extremely useful website. One of my career goals for 2012 was to become a DMOZ editor, having originally applied back in 2011, and while I'm quickly running out of time, there is still a slim change I can achieve that goal, and work towards becoming a great editor in 2013.

Thanks for your help and have a great Christmas,
Best wishes
Mel

Hi Jim,
after over a year of trying to become an editor, I'm now delighted to have become editor of http://www.dmoz.org/Arts/Music/Concerts_and_Events/Guides/. I've spent the last couple of days moving my way through the long list of unreviewed stes, with the initial aim of deleting all submissions for websites that are no longer around - shortening the list in this way makes it much easier to identify the real gems that I feel should be listed in the category. However, having an interest in concert and events, there are a few websites that I've come across that I think would fit perfectly in my catgeory (or one of its sub categories). I have just tried to submit a URL, www.gigwise.com through the usual DMOZ submission form, but it doesn't appear on my list of unreviewed sites, which I would have expected - is there a reason for this?

Many thanks
Mel

Wow, over a year. That's rather crazy for a site/institution that so desperately/obviously needs people to help out.

It might be true that we can always use more editors at DMOZ but we prefer quality over quantity. And as mellymel has proven learning from your mistakes and improving on your next attempt is possible. Many editors had to try more than once and a lot of them have become highly valued editors.
