Hi I was wondering if you could help me. I have changed my site from

<URL deleted>

to a new server, and the new address is

<URL deleted>

The old address was submitted to:-

http://dmoz.org/Recreation/Pets/Rodents/Hamsters/

and

http://dmoz.org/Kids_and_Teens/School_Time/Science/Living_Things/Animals/Mammals/Hamsters

which I was really greatful for, thank you.

My query is this, I filled in the change of address form a while back, and have checked on both listings, and the my site address has still not been changed.

Th new site is up, and running, and once I can get my new site adress changed, I will be reducing the amount of information on the old site

<URL deleted>
to just the information that I cannot move. e.g. the old forums, and some of the pictures.

Is there any way somebody can let me know how long it may take for the address to be changed over please?

Thankyou for your help,

John

All submissions and update requests are processed manually by our volunteer editors. Please allow us enough time to do so, which can take several months.

Since your old site prominently displays the new address I neither see a risk that it won't be change when your request will be processed, nor do I see a problem with some visitors being directed to your old site.

You would have thought was so, as its plastered all over my site. Unfortunately, what bought me to ask you is that since that sign has been up, I have had quite a few people apply to that older site, just this morning I had to go into the group and e-mail people because they were applying to join. It just dosn't seem to be getting through to people. On the Fast Counter on the Home page, it shows that its had over 700 hits this week, which is what is concerning me. My new site just doesn't seem to be getting the visitors to it. :eek:

Thank you anyway.

Instead of inviting visitors to the new URL, why not bring them to it via a 301 redirect?

The old page is an MSN group, I doubt he can put in a 301 redirect.

I notice though that the link to the new site is far enough down the page to require scrolling. Moving it up to where it's visible at the outset on the usual browser window sizes might get more people to follow it.

I doubt that MSN let you have access to set up a 301 redirect on the server.

Hi I am sorry to bother you. Unforunately, due to unforseen circumstances, the host of this server went down, and the site had to be cancelled. I had no choice but to move again. My new site address site name is Furry Critters and the address is <URL deleted> I am wondering if there was any way to have my new site address added, instead of the old one. The information is the same, but the format is slightly different. I am so sorry that this has happened. This new server is my last move.

It is so unfortunate of things going the wrong way for you. And my advice is continue with your site improvements. Things will just happen in due course and time.

Just have to say - I love hamsters! They are the sweetest little creatures. I used to have (years ago) 2 Teddy Bears and one of those huge units with the tubes running everywhere.

I'm sorry, but editors do not update listings based on posts here. It is rare that an editor with permissions in the category where your site is/would be listed visits the RZ.

Please go to the page where your site is listed and use the 'Update Listing' option at the top of the page to request a correction.

Thanks.

Hi, I was wondering if I could make some changes. I hope I can explain things to you you in a concise way.

My urls to my site <name not necessary> has changed. It used to be <URL deleted> now its [<URL deleted> but still called <name not necessary>.

The old <URL deleted> is now my Blog, <name not necessary>.

Can you change the information in the pets>Hamsters section please, and add the Blog address as well. The blog is an extension of the forum, with added pictures, plus a more information as well.

Hope that makes sense.

Thank you.

Hi, I did look at that, but because the way the site now is as explained above, it doesnt give me the option to be able to do whats needed, which is why I came here. If I used that. I would loose one of my urls, which I dont want, plus, I cant get the other added.

I did read what was said, but one of your mods actually changed the urls for me then. Its was changed really quickly as in hours after I posted.

Plus I cannot have a redirect either if I did, the furry critters site would then dissappear. So all those suggestions are not really workable.

Perhaps it would help if you read the very important section of the site suggestion guidelines which explains
Do not submit URLs that contain only the same or similar content as other sites you may have listed in the directory. Sites with overlapping and repetitive content are not helpful to users of the directory. Multiple submissions of the same or related sites may result in the exclusion and/or deletion of those and all affiliated sites.
