Not a common error message. Please PM me the URL and I'll take a look.

"Not a valid IP address pattern" has appeared every time for several months, whenever I suggest a site for submission.

What does this mean, please?

As the post immediately above yours says, try using a proxy server so that you'll have a different IP address.

Hi Jim,

I've been getting this same problem for almost a year now. I've been waiting patiently, because I know that DMOZ may take months to list a site or resolve issues such as this one. However, I just came across your advice here after trying to find out why I'm getting this error. In fact, I tried following your proxy server advice, which, indeed, on the face of it, seems like a plausible workaround.

However, the problem is that proxy servers do not allow the Captcha info to come through. In lieu of the image, I get a missing image icon and the sound file is not active, i.e. I can click it but it doesn't play.

Please let me know how to resolve this issue.

I'm not sure if it's a regional error, since it appears as if only Singapore (SingTel?) is effected, but I'd like to ratchet up the urgency to find a solution somewhat, as it safe to sasy it's not going away by itself.

FYI, the sites I have been trying to get listed are:

<URLs removed>

I'm looking forward to your reply.

Regards,

Bryan

Anybody willing and able to tackle/resolve this problem?

(I'm somewhat disheartened by the fact that an admin wasted no time removing the URL's posted and then left. It appears to me that that particular admin could have tried to address the issue a hand with an equal amount of verve, or at the very least could have tried to alert another admin who could assist, in particular since this problem is now stretching into over 6 months.)

Be that as it may, I'm looking forward to a resolution yet.

Thank you.

Regards,

Bryan

Here's the situation.

  • As has already been explained, it's a bug.
  • As has already been explained. it's been reported to AOL's engineers who are only people with permissions to fix our code.
  • Fixing it is in AOL's queue of things to be fixed.
  • Admins here have no power to adjust AOL's priorities.
What is it exactly that you think the volunteer Admins on this forum should do?

I have also faced the same problem. I have tried to use a web proxy on the internet but the Captcha will not work. But luckily my internet provider has it's own proxy server which i can use. And that solves the problem. Maybe you should contact your provider to see if they have their proxy server.

If so, just enter the proxy server into your web broswer settings.

IMO. i think most internet providers have their own proxies.

Hope it helps.

Did you read the answer given just above your post?
Did you do as suggested?

To repeat Jim

Imo the simplest solution is to use a proxy (in other words a different IP address) - there are some web based services available which require no setting up...

It seems that all the answers to these questions already have been given in previous posts, for example here. Closing.

I have tried submitting from several different locations and get the same response, to what otherwise seems to be a compliant to to the rules submission. And the site I am trying to submit is a normal www . com address.

I have tried the search function in this section for this, btw, but nothing came up.
Thank you.
