Dead and outdated links in shareware directories, part II
This time I decided to start checking listed sites from the beginning, so look at my results, MORE THAN 50% of links are bad! After that you will say that your existing editors do their work good and you do not need new editors for that category?! So, let's proceed:
1. ab-archive.com - contains a HUGE amount of badware downloads (99 downloads marked red at siteadvisor.com report, see details at
http://www.siteadvisor.com/sites/ab-archive.com)
2. absoluteshareware.com, allworldsoft.com, bestvistadownloads.com - the same as above
3. annesoft.com - lists ONLY affiliated downloads hosted on their other sites e.g. software-phile.com , triplequadturbo.com etc., just take a look at their download links to see if where do they take!
4. shareware-4-you.com - try to click on their 'Web & E-Business' and find out some iteresting "downloads", including "IX Web Hosting", "Yahoo! web hosting" etc.
5. best-software.co.uk - the front page does not contain any information but only the links to categories, and when entering any category you see only this: "Warning: mysql_connect(): Access denied for user 'bestsoft_simon'@'localhost' (using password: YES) in /home/bestsoft/public_html/showpads.php on line 145
Error connecting to the database server".
6. 100apps.com - please try to find the list of categories on their front page or any other helpful navigation links. Could you? Hint: go to the ultra bottom and find small link to alphabetical listings, follow the link and find lots of casino downloads and lots of other crap there! Also you are welcome to check their rating at siteadvisor.com. And this site is listed in DMOZ???!!!
7. bluedownloads.com - open the site and see the only phrase written: "Put here you're welcome text". Very valuable resource, of course... Also you may click on "Hitman pro 2.6" link to read the following in pure English: "hitman pro is een alles in 1 scanner. U kunt met dit programma eenvoudig virussen verwijderen enz."
8. binarymagic.com - take a look at their top banner taking to smileycentral.com site providing lots of adware containing smileys downloads.
To be continued...
