Hi again.

I've been looking through the Timber Framed Buildings category (http://www.dmoz.org/Business/Construction_and_Maintenance/Materials_and_Supplies/Wood_and_Plastics/Heavy_Timber_Construction/Timber_Framing), as I have for about the last six years or so to check if my site has been listed yet, and have found some more problematic links - as follow:

Blue Ridge Timber Frame Inc (http://blueridgetimberframe.com) redirects to a hosting/parking page
Philip R Pond Jr - Builder (http://www.pondbuilder.net) ditto
Wind River (http://www.windriver-timberframes.com) ditto

Village Post and Beam (http://vaxxine.com/postandbeam) seems to redirect somewhat intermittently - sometimes it's okay and other times it refreshes to a completely different site.

Also, I notice that the main educational and authoritative timber framing site in the UK, the Carpenters' Fellowship, still hasn't been added - as before, I'm baffled as to this omission.

Anyway, I hope this is of help.

Just a little update.

I checked the whois info and found that the Wind River (http://www.windriver-timberframes.com) domain has expired pending renewal/deletion - I'm guessing deletion since it refreshes to a parking page - and might be prone to hijacking.

Problematic links temporarily removed for future evaluation.

Carpenters' Fellowship isn't an omission; it's just that no editor has yet volunteered to process it. That's the nature of an all volunteer organisation I'm afraid. Incidentally, I can find no evidence that it's ever been suggested to us in any category.

Thanks for that info - that would explain it. Fair enough.
I'll suggest the Carpenter's Fellowship website myself, if that's alright.

Some sites are blatant, money-making HIJACKS. Someone's domain expires and is snapped up by those who
are trying to get people to visit casinos, porn sites, a nice-looking PPC or whatever else can make someone a few cents or bucks. Sometimes the intent is just linking trickery hoping to get Google to make a site jump to the top for some term or phrase. In any case, we want to know about all of theseHIJACKS.

Our robots usually notice these pretty quickly and remove them from public view in the category. If you spot any that we've missed, please let us know in this thread - that's its purpose.

my ecommerce site isn't accepted on dmoz because its considered a dropshipping site even though i hold inventory. I've quickly scanned through your furniture section and can easily point out around 50 - 100 sites ranging from small to large ecommerce businesses that do not hold any inventory. If my site cannot be placed on dmoz, then it would only be fair that you completely reevaluate your ecommerce businesses listed on dmoz, particularly in the furniture section.

You can either point us to those websites by naming them here
or by going to the DMOZ and click the ican at the end of the line of the specific listing to tell us what is the problem

Hi Jim and Elper - hope you're both well.

Still keeping an eye on this page http://www.dmoz.org/Sports/Winter_Sports/Skiing/Travel_Programs/Europe/
(see thread above, with my 2013 edits, which you guys used to update, as I'm not an editor)

It's 3 years since we last spoke above. I came accross the page again and, as life and the internet moves on, there are new broken bits to fix:
http://www.classicski.co.uk/ dead site
http://www.hotskiing.com/ long de-indexed spam site
http://www.skitheedge.co.uk/ long closed down travel business
Also worth noting that my suggestion (sno.co.uk) is now one of the biggest ski businesses and websites in Europe, and won the World Snow Awards (Telegraph) etc etc.

I hope that's helpful.

Great to see DMOZ looking strong as ever. Catch you in another 3 years!
All best,
Richard.

Hi Richard, as always thanks for bringing bad listings to our attention :)
Sadly, jimnoble is no longer with us. :(
Volunteer editors work in no particular order, so it's impossible to say when a site suggestion will be reviewed - it needs someone to take an interest in skiing!
I see you've applied to be an editor in the past, so unless you get a message like "do not reapply", you are welcome to try again, but please reread our guidelines and any reviewer comments you've received. It can be an idea to apply for a different category in a subject which interests you, but in which you have no commercial interests :2cents:

Category has not been properly maintained - https://www.dmoz.org/Computers/Internet/Chat/Web-Based/Chat_Rooms/
I have a message from 2008 in my inbox, making the same plee to get someone who cares about chat to moderate this page.

1 - Chat Hour & WeirdTown Chat (Both listed) - are the same chat site with different domain names and logos. They are also both owned by the same webmaster.

2 - TalkDesi.Com Redirects to http://ww1.talkdesi.com/ Which is a parked domain waiting to be sold or have links clicked for money.

Poor content:
Chill Zone - http://www.friendlychat.org/ has not been updated in years

I have literally been complaining about this editors inaction for 8+ YEARS

I have been dutifully submitting my own site <url removed according to forum guidelines> for years. It has never been added. I've emailed the editor and heard nothing back. There are only 12 links on the page and 2 clearly need to be deleted and I'm sure several others could be removed or replaced with pages that are looked after. Even if my site is not added, please for the sake of the chat community get an editor that cares.

Thank you for bringing these listings to our attention. I have taken care of them.

About suggesting your own website. You should only suggest it ONCE. Suggesting it more times can result in longer times between first suggestion and review. And in worst case could result in a ban for spamming us (but that is an exception anly for the most worst spammers, those who suggest a website to a lot of different categories)

Sedning emssages to editors will not help you as editors are advised not to reply to such emails.

> please for the sake of the chat community get an editor that cares.
have you ever thought of becoming part of the solution?
you could be the editor that cares for this category
that you own a website is not a problem as long as you threat it equaly as all other websites

Wow, thank you. I truly did not expect that to be handled so quickly.
You should only suggest it ONCE.
- I think I've submitted my domain almost every year (once per year) for possibly 10 years. Before that my site was listed until one day it wasn't. I don't have much faith this editor will be adding my domain or any others. What do you suggest I do?

you could be the editor that cares for this category
- I applied about 2 years ago. I disclosed that I own 2 clean chat sites, 4 adult chat sites and 1 chat directory. But I forgot one other small chat domain I own, that hasn't been active and they said they denied me because of that. (I've been doing websites for 20 years, I pobably own 40 domains in total) Do you think I should apply again?

I submitted my site to http://www.dmoz.org/Computers/Internet/Chat/Web-Based/Chat_Rooms/ when I applied to be an editor. I was told it was not listed because I am somehow trying to attract people to talk about sex. I implore you to find where on my site I do that. I actually tell people to go to another site for that on my "adult chat" page.

Reviewer Comments:
Hello, the reason you cannot get 321chat listed is because you are submitting it to the wrong place. Whilst you have chat rooms intended to attract surfers to talk about sex it belongs in the adult part of the directory.

- I think editors are confusing a chat room that is intended to be for adults as sexual, when really I just want to give teens and adults their own space.

Half of the chats listed either have "Adult Chats" or in some cases Sex Chat, Cyber Sex, BDSM rooms, or adult ads.
I just ask that we all be treated equally. If simply having an "Adult Chat" is grounds for not being listed then how can all these sites be listed in a category that only has 9 links.
