I was referred to this forum by one of the editors in the "site status - regional" forum after a lively discussion about sites that include affiliate links. I'm not at all convinced that the editor's statement that sites that include affiliate links are considered spam and should not be submitted are accurate, as the ODP editing guidelines seem to indicate otherwise.
I would be interested in getting an official statement from ODP on whether sites with affiliate links can be submitted and be reviewed based on content
other than affiliate links, rather than a flat-out "don't submit" if there are affiliate links. I was also told that my site is fraternal mirror of another site, which it is not.
I would also like to make a comment that I believe the use of the term "marketroid" by an editor in the forum to describe someone who does marketing is used in a derogatory way, and does not reflect the professionalism one would expect from an editor of the ODP.
However, after commenting that over half the sites in the category to which I submitted had affiliate links, and less "other" content, they said it would be a "good thing" to report it here. So here goes:

This site does not have complete hotel listings with affiliate links, but has one page with links to affiliate programs, and according to at least one editor would make listing it against ODP policy:
Cancun Assist:
http://www.cancunassist.com/
This site has dead links to all hotel listings:
Visit Cancun:
http://www.visitcancun.com/
This site, I believe, is borderline pornography and may be against ODP listing policies (the offensive photos and ads for porn sites are not on the index page, but on deeper pages:
Cancun Cool Guide:

I am not sure if this site is against ODP listing policies, but it is full of annoying pop-up ads, images that are missing, and bad links:

Also according to "Gimmster", I could not submit my site if it was not my only online presence, but really just the "cancun travel" section of a broader web site (it IS my only online presence). However, the following sites in that category are not their only online presence and are the "cancun" section of a broader site:
