Dear Editors,

We have recently submitted our site http://www.chem-world.com to the category-Business > Chemicals > Asia > China.

Can you please check the status for us? How long should we wait to be listed? Is there anything we've done wrongly?

Is it possible to expedite our submission? for we are confident we've provided in this site very rich and useful information to the pertaining internet surfers, we want them to find us as soon as possible. We're based in China, but other five languages in this site are available for the world readers.

Thank you so much for your assistance.

Best Regards,
Toby

Is there anything we've done wrongly?

Since you ask - yes, please provide us with a clickable link to the category, and make sure you have waited at least a month after submitting your web site before enquiring for its status. Thank you :D

As for
Is it possible to expedite our submission?
No, I'm afraid it isn't. It is however possible that the non-English versions of your site could be submitted to the appropriate categories under World/ if there is sufficient content.

I see the listing awaiting review in that category, along with a rather large number of others.

What I don't see is the site itself. I get a "Not Found" error when I try to view it. I suggest you fix that before the reviewing editor gets around to looking at it. We don't list what we can't see.

Dear brmehlman,

I'm very nervous when you told me that my site can't be viewed. But actually my site www.chem-world.com has been online all the time.

Could you pls recheck the site for me? Did I make any typing error with the URL? I'm so worried.

If the site is still not availbale, I should fix or resubmit immediately.

Thank you!

For whatever it is worth, the site was up when I looked at it using the link from this forum, both today and yesterday. I can't say anything about the URL submitted to the ODP, as that's in a part of the directory I'm not an editor for so I can't see it, but unless there is a typo in the submitted URL I think it must have been a temporary glitch when brmehlman tried to view it.

I have tried both the submitted link and the link in this forum and I get a Could not contact server" error for that site. The same URL is in both the submission and the forum.

I am currently accessing sites from the US, as is brmehlman, I believe, and Nea is in Sweden. Could that be relevant?

It's now working for me, but incredibly slowly - throughput of about 500 Bytes per second.

It took over two minutes to load, running on a high speed DSL, then wanted to download a chinese language character set, even though the site appears to be in English. Personally, if I was editing it for ODP, I wouldn't wait that long, I'd mark it as slow, leve it unreviewed, and get on to the next site. If it kept on being slow each time, it might never get reviewed.

Well, it seems to be downloading quickly enough for me. Less than 10 seconds on a DSL connection. On the other hand, with Mozilla 1.2.1, there are some display issues (pulldown menus display behind the animated picture), but that wouldn't stop the site from being listed.

It loads pretty quickly for me (and I'm using an AOL dialup line), although there's something about the page coding that is making the content spread out wider than an 800 X 600 screen can accommodate (without any scroll bars).

It's loading Flash images so maybe that's where you guys are experiencing the problems.

It loaded in a matter of seconds for me across a broadband (cable) connection in the US using Opera 7.11

Tried again to access, [note previous post yesterday was two minutes] today it was 8 seconds, so it must have been a temporary slowdown.
