Wait at least a month after you last submitted your site to start a thread here asking about its status.

Dear hutcheson and giz...

Dear hutcheson and giz,

In reply to your retorts to my earlier post:

>>> (hutcheson) No, it is not. Ever.

Thank you for getting to the point so succinctly.

>>> (giz) Do you think that that question might have ever been asked before? It is inconceivable that none of the 100 000 prior posts in this forum has ever covered that...

I'm not aware of, and not particularly concerned with, the number of posts the DMOZ forum receives. I asked a simple question to anyone who might be listening, and who would care to take the time to answer. I've been waiting 4 months to have my site listed on DMOZ; in that time, I've posted 4 questions. From my point of view, the questions are entirely appropriate and valid, and are not so inane they can be considered a waste of anyone's time.

I'm seriously considering becoming an editor at DMOZ. If I should decide to contribute my time, I hope to do so with more tolerance, grace, and kindness than I've been shown so far. I will especially avoid giving the impression, by word or tone, that my time is too valuable to waste on "trivial" requests, or that the supplicant should "know better" than to ask such a question. Most importantly, I'll recognize and take into account that a significant percentage of requests come from small business owners hoping to enhance their market presence, and that a listing on DMOZ could possibly affect their livelihood.

>>> (giz) A forum search would have turned up: http://resource-zone.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=17647 for example.

Yes, thank you, a very useful link indeed. The only way, in my opinion, that it might have been more useful is if it been delivered in a less admonishing tone.

Please review again the forum guidelines referred to in post #2, regarding the six month wait before asking again about your site.

No Change In Status?

What does this mean, no change in status?

How many years will it take to have someone either approve or decline my submission?

I submitted last April -- that's over 10 months ago...

Can someone please take charge of my dossier and bring it to a conclusion?

Thank you.

Robert Ferraro.

Confused

I don't understand -- where you're pointing me to says:

"So the preferred method is now to suggest the site to the category and wait at least a month."

???

Your question: How many years will it take to have someone either approve or decline my submission?

FAQ answer: The time between submission and an editorial review ranges anywhere from two minutes to over two years. This is due to the voluntary nature of the ODP - editors volunteer their time free of charge to do what they can to build the directory.

You may come back to this thread after six months to ask for another update. However I can't guarantee that your site will have been reviewed then.

Thanks

Thanks for the invitation to check in again in 6 months, but at this point, rather than stay on the "pending review" list, I would prefer to remove my submission. Is this possible?

Robert Ferraro.
