You are a little early to request a secondary status check. You had your last update on 04-04-2004 so you can request another after 10-04-2004. Please bump this thread on or after the 10th October at the time we can check the status again.

Tip: You can check to see if your site has been listed while you are waiting for the 6 months to be up by going to www.dmoz.org and typing in arabo.com search sometimes does not work but if you try a few times you will eventually get a results. You should try this as you can answer the status request yourself by looking at result #1 and #2

Sorry for the mistake, in my window view the last post was on 06-03-2004, but you are right, point taken and understood.
We did not apply or submit to that second listing that is a deep link to one of our categories, so I will copy and paste the same message again in one month.

The dates in this forum are in the form mm-dd-yyyy. I'm guessing you misread that date as March 6 instead of June 3?

That is correct Motsa, in the Middle East we are more used to dd.mm.yy

Hoping for a little explanation, more than just "still waiting review", a "Forget it" or a "Re-apply" would be really appreciated as we have been waiting for over one year
My case for getting listed is:
- We are bilingual site (Arabic and English) and it is well marked on all pages
- Most of the simmilar sites are already listed there
- We think we are doing a really good job
Thanks for taking the time in such hectic overcrowded tasks.

We are used to Much faster responses from you guys
It has been 6 months of waiting and and one year after applying

This may seem strange, but what you posted is not something that we can properly consider.

We review websites. You can make sure we don't overlook a website, by submitting it -- but the decision on whether to add a site MUST be based ONLY on the site review, not on any kind of persuasion from anywhere. Anything else would be corruption or editor abuse.

Reviewing 'directories' is hard, thankless, mostly unproductive work. (We build one, and we know.) And you may not have been aware of it, but this season's affiliate-spammer scam is ... yes, "directories", so reviewing submittals is even harder and less productive than usual. It's not a good season for any honest person in that field....

Noted and fully understood hutcheson about the directories difficulties, we work VERY hard to maintain the service & value, some do scam, but never at our scale, they just cannot afford to risk that much work.

I guess we have to re-phrase our question, here it goes:

- Are we still pending review ?

- Desperate Measure:
How difficult is it to Move our current listing from :

If the site contains Arabic and English content both (and both navigable by a monolingual reader) then it may be considered for listings in both places.

The site is waiting review by an editor in the English category. There is no need for you to do anything further, and there is nothing non-harmful that you can do further.

Concerning your other questions:

(1a) There is no private area for details about a site. And there is no need for one. Editors simply look at the site to find out about it.

(1b) All submittals (requests for reviews) are treated alike here. There is no need for separating them out by their submittal or review histories.

(2) There's no need to make a case. If you resubmit the site, add a note to the editor in brackets. All you'd need to say is [odp content removed] or [odp attribution added]. This case isn't unusual; the editor will know how to handle it.

(3a) It's not about chances. The editors do things on purpose. But I can't tell what they would do without a review (which we do not do based on forum requests) of the site as it will be (which isn't available yet.)

(3b) If you're concerned about losing your work, take backups religiously, and look for potential alternate hosts. That's not a matter that the ODP can help with.

(3c) There's no real need for apology or amends. If a site conforms to our guidelines, and the submitter doesn't have a reputation for "bait-and-switch" (and nothing like that has been mentioned yet), editors nearly always list it as a matter of course.

(3d) As to when ... that's always the unanswerable question.
