Re: status http://www.heavenlytreasures.com/

Just curious to know what the situation was for [http://dmoz.org/Regional/North_America/United_States/New_Jersey/Localities/A/Allenhurst/Business_and_Economy/] now that I finally got the submission taken care of. I also filled out the application again (since my computer froze the first time) with full disclosure & a link back here.
Thanks.

Your editor application has been received and is awaiting review. Your site is still also waiting to be reviewed. Thanks for adding the Regional information (yes, I managed to find the pertinent link written in mouse-print <img src="/images/icons/wink.gif" alt="" />).

We've been having some technical difficulties with the directory server, so that's wreaking havoc for everyone (editors and public) as well. Staff is aware of the problem, and corrections are scheduled for later this week - there's a temporary fix in place at the moment.

&gt;&gt;Editors generally don't like the Shopping categories as they are rampant with spam and inappropriate submissions&lt;&lt;

Whhaaaaaaaaat!??? That is not true at all. SOME editors don't like the Shopping categories. And SOME editors don't like the Regional categories, and SOME editors don't like the Society categories...I hardly think we want to classify an important area of the directory as a place to be avoided. Personally, I get a kick out of finding stores that sell some really odd-ball things, or that sell beautiful items I plan to buy someday (when I win the lottery!)

Since it wasn't mentioned, at least we all agree that there is NO editor that does NOT like Sports/ ...

It's still awaiting review there (all on its lonesome). An editor will get round to it soone, but because of recent downtime editors have not been able to edit and are only just getting back into the 'swing' of things.

How about the editor application. Should I try again (maybe somewhere else) or maybe it hasn't been looked at yet?

No applications for anywhere in New Jersey at this time.

I guess that means that I was denied? Gee, I wish I could at least get an email of some sort.
Should I try again somewhere else in NJ or will that be frowned upon?

Maybe you should take a closer look at the category you mentioned, huh?

Last edit was on "Monday, November 4, 2002" so your listing has already been there for 10 days or more at the time you posted this.

Thanks Daniel, I didn't even realize. In my defense, I was searching for "Heavenly Treasures" from the DMOZ home page instead of actually going to the category. I still dont show up as a search result from DMOZ but I now assume it probably updates once a month or something like that. Again, thanks for all your help &amp; I will keep my fingers crossed for becoming an editor as I'd really like to help.

Re: status http://www.heavenlytreasures.com/

Search is usually updated at least weekly, but due to technical troubles with the RDF dump (which is used by downstream users such as Google, and as the basis for the Search function at http://dmoz.org/) it has not been updated for well over a month. Fixing it is a high priority, but since the RDF takes nearly a week to generate, a failure after several days means some frantic fixing and the regeneration process restarted from the beginning. This is frustrating for staff, editors, and users alike, but rest assured that it is being looked at.
