I think it was to
Top: Regional: Europe: France: Travel and Tourism: Travel Guides
In fact I'm pretty sure about it.

Rejected for being too much under construction when you submitted it. If you have added more content to the various broken sections now then you may resubmit.

Hi,
Yes, the site has more info and more pages, the bad links have been fixed :)mad: they're due to a bug with Mozilla which insists on changing links when you save the page... any solutions to that?) and it's going to keep on growing. We just resubmitted it to
Top: Regional: Europe: France: Guides and Directories
which is probably more appropriate as it contains not just travel info, but info on wine, studying, French links, and we're working on plenty more.

As suggested by John Caius, I resubmitted this site on 19th November, now that it has more content (and a lot more than lots of the sites in DMOZ). Can anyone give me an update on its status....

I have moved your site to the unreviewed queue of the Travel Guides category as I agree that it's more appropriately placed there. Looking at your site, something that might cause an editor to query the source of your content is the fact that many of the 'Cliquez Ici' links on the site lead to content on different domains, whilst other 'Cliquez Ici' links lead to other pages on your domain. What is your relationship with those other sites you link to? There's not that much content that's actually held on your domain.

Thanks John
But with regard to "many of the 'Cliquez Ici' links on the site lead to content on different domains".... this is true of millions of sites on the Internet, notably portals whose aim is to group together (very selectively) links to relevant websites (is that not what DMOZ does?). It is the careful selection of these links that is the value of such sites. As regards "original pages", there are several of these, and more are in the pipeline... even if one can question whether 'tis better to include a short "own page" on a subject, or to include a link to a longer, and often more authoritative page, on the same subject. I don't really think that we can do better, for instance, for maps of France than map companies can, hence the links from our site rather than an "own page"

is that not what DMOZ does?
Yes. And because of this fact, the benefit of listing such sites in thr ODP is very small. So we are quite restrictive regarding such sites. If we think they don't add valuable content, we dont list them.

Our guidelines ask us to list sites that have their own, unique content.

The site in question contains plenty of original content and corresponds in all respects to the guidelines:
"In general, ODP editors should enter sites that represent the following:
* Original, unique and valuable informational content that contributes something unique to the category's subject."
It also fully complies with the 5 points then indicated in the guidelines under the heading :
"Editors should consider the following for each site: "
I can't see anywhere in the guidelines that a site that contains a mix of original content and links cannot be listed.
Or do the words "such sites" in the preceeding post refer to directories like Dmoz, and not to the site I submitted?

This thread currently shows up with the message "this thread has moved", with my member name against the thread.
Please can someone explain a) What is the significance of this?
b) Why does my name appear along side the message, since I did not move it?
Puzzled!
