Hi,
I submitted my website: The Amazing Brownie Company to the open directory 1 year ago on 8/17/2003
the directory location is: http://www.dmoz.org/Shopping/Food/B..._Bars/Brownies/
This directory does not have an editor....any idea of how long it might take to have this submission reviewed?
I also submitted the site to: http://dmoz.org/Regional/North_Amer.../Shopping/Food/
This category does not have an editor either.
Any suggestions??

Submissions for that URL are awaiting reivew in both those categories. If you don't see them listed sometime in the next six months, please feel free to return for a status update on or after 6 February.
Many editors can edit in both those categories, however, due to the nature of the review process, we are unable to estimate the time to review of any given submission. See the FAQ for more details.

I understand that the site is in que for review, but it is now going on 2 years? Is there any thought to having a que where sites are reviewed in the order that they are submitted? Seems like this would be the fair way to treat websites and eliminate any favoritism.
Any idea of how long it might take to have this submission reviewed?

I have volunteered 3 times to be an editor only to be rejected.

Yes. It's generally rejected, because of the enormous problems it would cause.

The fair way is to treat websites that AREN'T SUBMITTED AT ALL just as well as the ones that are.
And to totally ignore when, whether, or by whom a website is submitted. What, after all, does it matter who submits it, or when? If the website is up, it has just as much right to a website that has been submitted a thousand times: if it's not up, the fact that it's been submitted dozens of times already gives it no credence whatsoever.
You're thinking altogether too much about being fair to SERP perps, and wasting no time at all thinking about being generous to surfers. We're all about the latter.
Your time you can give away to anyone you want. But you must allow other humans the same privilege!
