No submission for that URL is waiting in the gien category, and it has not been removed either. Some possible reasons:
1) You submited to another category
2) You submitted another URL
3) You got an error message or timeout when submission

If this relly is the apropriate category, I suggest resubmission

Thats very disapointing, <img src="/images/icons/frown.gif" alt="" /> I'm almost sure this is the category I submitted to, I didn't get any errors which was unusual because I had been trying to submit it for ages and kept getting 500 error.
The only other possibility was I submitted it to
http://dmoz.org/Computers/Internet/Searching/Directories/ but I don't think so, as I thought that this would be too general for my site.


Or I submitted http://www.ocellus.org instead

to the original category. Sorry for being so vague <img src="/images/icons/blush.gif" alt="" /> I thought I had a record of the submission but I can't find it.


I would be grateful if you could recommend a suitable category if I have to resubmit, the site is a directory of web pages relating to ophthalmology, it is non-comercial and does not contain any advertising, it is edited by volunteers along the lines of the DMOZ

Yes, you're right, that would have been way too general.

However, neither site is waiting in either of the categories you mentioned, or in several other opthamology-related categories I checked. Nor do I see any evidence that either site was moved or deleted.

If you're sure you submitted to one of those two categories, all I can suggest is that you try resubmitting.

As for suggesting a category, I'm by no means an expert in that area of the directory, but in my opinion, the best fit I could find was http://dmoz.org/Health/Medicine/Medical_Specialties/Ophthalmology (the original category you mentioned). Please make sure to pick one of your URLs and don't submit both. We will only list one. Thanks!

No, that post referred to a server crash here at Resource Zone, which is maintained by some ODP editors, but has no official connection to the ODP. The ODP servers were not affected by that crash, as they are different machines in a different location and owned by different people.

Thanks, I thought that was probably the case, I have tried to submit the site again as the following :
to: Health: Medicine: Medical Specialties: Ophthalmology

Title :Ocellus - Directory of Ophthalmology Resources
Url : http://www.ocellus.org
Description : Find a directory of Web pages related to eye diseases, conditions and general ophthalmology, searchable by keyword and category.

but I'm now getting 500 errors again Grr <img src="/images/icons/mad.gif" alt="" /> , so frustrating.

Success! I got a message saying Submission Received <img src="/images/icons/grin.gif" alt="" />
Is it possible to check that this is true, I don't want to check back in another month only to find that you have no record of this. The submission was to the category in the above post. <img src="/images/icons/wink.gif" alt="" />

The servers have been offline for the last week, so all editors have been locked out during that time. This was a planned upgrade announced in many places. The servers aren't supposed to be back online until sometime tomorrow, but the job was done early and we are back in. A lot of people have things to do that they have had to put off for a few weeks, or more, so check back in at least a month for an update.

It's comparitively short, actually :) (less than 20 sites). As Giz says, check back in another month and we'll let you know if the situation improves.

Hi I'm just checking again, its been three months now since I submitted the site as you can see from above there were not many other sites in the queue, just wondering how long it takes :confused:
