I am sorry but we no longer give information on the size of a particular unreviewed pool. We also have no way of knowing how long it will take to review a site due to the volunteer nature of the directory. Basically, in this forum, you can ask if a site is waiting and we can answer yes or no. If it is listed we can tell you that and if it is rejected we can tell you that as well. If it was rejected we might even give you a link to the submission guidelines so you can try to figure out why.

Thanks for the clarification.

One other thing though: with regard to the regional listing, the description of the category doesn't state that you need a real storefront. It says:

This category is for sites pertaining to businesses, services, and industry located in Wilson, North Carolina.

There are least a few other "virtual" companies in the category already:

Anthony Web Design - Offers web design and hosting services. Features client portfolio and owner profile.
Web Design Associates - Offers web design, hosting, and database integration. Features client portfolio and list of site promotion techniques.

So I wonder why my site was deleted from that category, based on the above.

Thanks again.

It was not deleted from the category because I don't think it was ever listed there rather we declined to list it regionally because the editor who reviewed the site did not feel that it qualified for a regional listing.

Sometimes sites that have been listed in the past need to be re-reviewed to see if they match the current listing guidelines. It is possible that we need to do that in this area of the directory and that task will be accomplished as soon as a volunteer editor has time to do it.

Thanks for the inquiry and good luck with your submission.

Can you give me any idea of how many other submissions are in the queue for that category?

I know this is no indication of how long it will be before any given site is considered, but I'm curious as to the size.

Thanks

Sorry, but we have decided not to discuss this anymore.

As you say:

this is no indication of how long it will be before any given site is considered

You are probably not getting an answer since you started asking before a full month had gone by. That may sound picky, but the guidelines say wait at least a month, and it's considered non-flexible.

Oops sorry.

I'll ask again in a couple of days then.

Of course you *could* just list me, and then I'd never need to ask again :)

Thanks for the reply anyway...

Thanks for the info.

If someone edited the queue it looks as if either they must have rejected nearly every submission, or the queue was less than 10 entries long: There are only 26 items in this category, and I think I recall that there were over 20 a few months ago (23?).

There's also no editor attached, and I volunteered to edit, applied, suggested 3 URLs of large competitors who are not listed, and was rejected.

If I were the editor I would definitely list our site, but I would also list other competitive sites, such as the 3 I suggested.

Well, since you cannot see the submissions pool, and we don't share that information, it can only be a wildly uninformed guess on your part.

For what it is worth, when people edit in a submissions pool, they rarely clear all the waiting sites. Sometimes they spend hours working and as a net result, not a single site gets added (this is why we despise spammers).

Looking at the last edit dates and numbers in the published queue is simply an exercise that will lead you nowhere as there are too many variables, and you aren't given enough visibility/insight to make an informed guess.
