Hi. Can you please update me on the status of http://www.italycharms.com

It was submitted several weeks ago to one of the following categories (I don't remember which one):

Your submission of 27 June is waiting with close to 500 others in http://dmoz.org/Business/Consumer_Goods_and_Services/Jewelry/Wholesale_and_Distribution . Afraid it is going to take quite some time for it to be reviewed.

You've also failed to mention the numerous other categories it was submitted to.

Would suggest bookmarking this thread and waiting at least 5-6 months before asking again.

'not-so-great' SEO and Submission company which not only at one point made my site very spammy (which i fixed), but also made many duplicate submissions to the search engines, including your directory.

So again, very sorry about that and i'll check back in a few months as you suggested.

Hi again! Quick question: I had started another post regaridng my other website www.italycharms.biz, which ended up turning into a discussion of www.italycharms.com (since we decided the the .biz site shouldn't be listed b/c it's too similar to the .com). So my question is now that i've followed a lot of good advice and re-vamped my website with a lot of unique contect, etc... do I need to resubmit? I think it was mentioned that www.italycharms.com is no longer in any queues.

I think it should be listed here:

Please let me know what I should do at this point.

Hi! Thanks for getting back to me.

I have a question on the affiliate information and the deletion of my submission. I'm certainly not going to deny that I have affiliate links on my site, but those are completely secondary to the main purpose of the site which is to offer information about different types and brands of Italian Charms and where to buy them at wholesale.

Per the link you sent me, it says, "However, a site that contains affiliate links in addition to other content (such as a fan site for a singer that has interviews and photos plus banner ads and links to buy the singer's CDs) might be an acceptable submission to the directory."

I feel that if you take away the affiliate links on my site that there is still a lot of content including including information on numerous types of charms, pictures, etc...

If you could please take a look at my site http://www.italycharms.com and let me know if you agree with my thoughts and if you think I should resubmit that would be great. Or if you think I would need to decrease the # of links I can certainly do that since as I said they are totally secondary.

Basically the purpose of my site is for people who want wholesale information, but I get a lot of visitors who just want regular charms so I want to have a place for them to go (hence the affiliate links). But the main purpose is to provide information on charms and offer wholesale pricing.

In response to some of the earlier comments, yes, I do have affiliate links on the site, but the main purpose of the site is that I am a wholesaler of Italian Charms.

It awaits review in that category.

However, if the contents have not changed substantially since the previous comments in this thread, you should expect the same result. I am not going to be get into a discussion here about the design of your site, as that is contrary to forum rules. You have read the guidelines, and therefore should be able to do what is necessary to improve your chances of being listed in the ODP.

No, the site is not still in the queue - it was declined. Whatever you do next is up to you. If you decide to resubmit you are going to have to wait at least a month before you can get another status check.

Hi. As you mentioned in the prior post I've waited a month and would like to check on the status of http://www.italycharms.com/ which was submitted here: http://dmoz.org/Business/Consumer_Goods_and_Services/Jewelry/Fashion/Wholesale_and_Distribution/

My site now has 0 affiliate links and you can download the wholesale forms right off the site, you do not have to email for the information.

That's fine. Originally they were setup as different sites but then I stopped working on italiancharmbracelets.us and just focused on italycharms.com (should I request the .us to be removed from the queue or has it already been done so?)

Also, how big is the queue that italycharms.com is in? Do I need to wait another week, month, etc... before I check again for a status?

It has already been removed. At least one month is the forum guideline, so I would go with that.

As for the number of sites awaiting review (there is no "queue" in the sense of an ordered list that gets processed in that order), we have stopped giving out that information since we have found that it bears no correlation to the amount of time taken to review a site, and may create a false expectation. Hope you understand.

Fair enough. I'll be in touch in another month.
