Hi again. I just wanted to add an update to this thread. Per the advice I received in this forum, I wanted to let you know the logon and password required to access the wholesale ordering forms on my website. I'd rather not post them here, is there someone (perhaps the editor to the category), that I can IM them to?

Thank you very much.

What I have seen done in some circumstances is to provide an email address in the description where an editor can request this username and password.

Unfortunately there is no way of knowing which editor will review the site, so we can't give a name that you can IM.

Thanks for the info. What exactly do you mean by 'description'? Are you refering to my website or my post in this forum?

If you mean my website, if the editor just clicks on the email link to request the wholesale info, just like a regular wholesaler would, and identifies himself as a dmoz editor i will give him the password. Would that work?

Thanks again.

Yes, but unless he/she reads this thread - which is unlikely he won't know that.

So put something at the end of the description to convey that and make it stick out like

***--->[if an editor needs a password to review the site please email us at xxx@xxx]<---***

I think what Alucard is suggesting is that you resubmit one more time to the same category and in the proposed site desription you provide the editor login and password. No one but editors can see this, and it lets whatever editor wants to review the site have access.

This is the way we handle it with the plethora of "adult" sites that have to be reviewed, and seems to work well.

Will they look at this as a duplicate submission? Or will it bump me down in the 'queue'? Or if I put a note in the description they'll understand why I 're-submitted' and not look down upon it?

Thanks again for the ideas!

It should overwrite the previous one.
There is no "queue" - it might get "moved down", if the editor sorts by submission date, and reviews in tha order of that list (which is one of the options) slow it down, yes, but the alternative is that the password-protected area of the site can't be reviewed, and the site may get denied. Your choice.

Resubmissions of the same URL to the same category aren't "looked down on", since they overwrite a previous one and cause an editor no extra work. They are just usually counter-productive on everyone's part - in this special case, though it would be productive.

Either put the username and pass in the description (which will obviously be removed before the site is listed), or provide an email address in the description where an editor can write to you to get the username and password - the first might be quicker for a review, and the second might be mroe appropriate if you have more stringent security concerns. I have seen both done in various areas of the directory.

Hope this helps.

Hi. Can somebody check to see if I resubmitted correctly? I included a note with the logon/password info and just want to make sure it went through ok. I had to try about 5 times b/c it kept telling me the description was too long. I had to shrink it a lot so my explanation about including the password is very brief.

As a reminder it is for http://www.italycharms.com which was submitted here: http://dmoz.org/Business/Consumer_Goods_and_Services/Jewelry/Fashion/Wholesale_and_Distribution/

Thanks!!

Is it too soon to ask for an update? And can someone confirm if my instructions about the password are included with my submission? I'd hate to wait all this time only to find out that they can't access the password portion of the site.

Thanks very much!

It's waiting for review there, password and all. No need to resubmit :)

Hi. Just wondering if I could get another update.

Also, is this a 'highly-reviewed' category? I know you can't give me any specifics on when I may be reviewed/added/declined..., but I did first submit this site on 6/27/03, almost a year ago, and then had to resubmit a few months ago after initially being declined. Are you able to perhaps indicate to me if there are dozens vs. hundreds of submissions and if there is a specific editor for this category or if it's just a general editor?

Thanks again!

Sorry about that, bad math day. I calculated October 1, but you are correct and it's November 1...

Hi again. I also just wanted to make sure you are aware of this thread: http://resource-zone.com/forum/showthread.php?p=123402#post123402

and to see if you have any input or can perhaps try to get to www.italycharms.com reviewd as soon as possible (I know that probably won't happen). But they removed my other site b/c of this submission, which was actually submitted before the other one, so now I have no sites listed. Ugh, what a mess... :(

Thanks again for any help,

You are right. Postings made at RZ will have totaly no influence on the time needed for a review.
